'As clean, comfortable & central as they come' - Lonely Planet 2008. Derry Palace is an award-winning accommodation centre in the centre of our historic City. Ensuite rooms, sunny garden, pool table, free internet & WiFi & a beautiful antique Piano!
We are the award-winning, fun-filled, eco-friendly, quality Hostel in the centre of our beautiful City.
We offer comfy-clean beds, high-speed internet, laundry facilities, a cosy turf/peat fire, the chance to play Hurling, an outdoor covered beer-garden & much more.
Our Hostel was founded in 2003 by two of Derry's most passionate backpackers - Steve McPhilemy & Charlie O'Connell. This hostel is our Pride & Joy and has won us several awards.
Steve is a history-nerd, dog-lover & one of Ireland's leading approved Tour-Guides.
Charlie is well-known on the Irish backpacker circuit, a trained cook and a former Safari driver in South Africa.
Our hostel is well-known for it's 'Been-there, done-that, bought the t-shirt' collection which adorns the walls of our grand TV & Pool room. The collection has been lovingly put together by Steve & Charlie during 10 years of travel throughout Ireland and the World.
We are an integral part of our local community and we welcome all to stay!
Happy Travels,
Steve, Charlie, David, Rory & Riona

DIRECTIONS TO HOSTEL
We are directly opposite the entrance to the 'Job Centre' on Woodleigh terrace, which runs directly into Asylum Road.We are on Asylum Road, on the street right adjacent to the side of the police station which is located on Strand Road.
(the Police station looks like a fortress, with a very high stone wall and razor wire - this is Northern ireland after all!)
if you follow the Strand Road faway from city centre you will pass a large TESCO store and Cinema on your right. Once you pass the Clarendon Ba,r which will be on your right, we are then on the street which is the next left, just at the POLICE - PSNI station.
Our address is 1 Woodleigh Terrace. This terrace is half way up Asylum Road. We have a big bright orange front door. Our building is very brightly coloured in dark Green and a bright yellow.
If at the tourist office, Maria and our good friends there will be glad to direct you and give you a map.
A taxi will cost you about £3. To walk from the Bus station is about 10 minutes max.
If coming from the bus station, turn right on-to Foyle Street. Go past the Guildhall - our City Hall, its a very large red-brick building that looks like a Cathedral and has a huge clock tower on it.
Keep the Foyle river on your right hand side, go across Guildhall square, the public square in front of City hall, and walk down the Strand Road, past the cinema and we are the first left (1 Woodleigh terrace, on Asylum Road) the first left immediately before the police station.
