Location Information
Finn McCool's Hostel
32 Causeway Rd.
Bushmills*
County Antrim
BT57 8SU
*The hostel is 2 miles north of Bushmills, just below Giant's Causeway.
Finn McCool's is located on Causeway road, a mere 3 minute walk from Giant's Causeway and the brand new Visitor's Centre.
The bus stops are located halfway between Finn McCool's and Giant's Causeway.
With several buses daily, Belfast and attractions along the North Coast are easily accessible.
The Giant's Causeway - "The site plays a major part of Ireland’s heritage, attracting visitors from around the world each year since it was first documented in 1693 and realistic sketches were published in 1740. The Giant’s Causeway has often been described as the Eighth Wonder of the World and was declared as Ireland’s first World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1986."
It has now opened a visitor centre with interactive displays, story boards about the history of the Causeway, a gift shop and a cafe.
(Please note that in order to access the gift shop and cafe, you must pay the visitor centre entrance fee.)
The hours of operation of the visitor centre itself vary by season so please check with our staff to find out the current opening times.
Dunluce Castle - It is approximately 5 km from Finn McCool's with a scenic walk along the beach that takes approximately two hours, at a leisurely pace, and is a must-see when staying at the hostel.
From their website: "The limestone cliffs of the White Rocks ends abruptly against a dark basalt outcrop which is majestically crowned by Dunluce Castle and joined to the mainland by an arched walkway. Underneath lies the Mermaid's Cave with its legend of a lost soldier taken to the deep after being entranced by a beautiful mermaid, other stories tell of smuggling and Spanish cannons."
Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge - If you are the daring type and want to walk across the famous rope bridge, we recommend taking the Causeway Rambler (buy the Day ticket for £5.90) out there. It's about a mile hike from the entrance to the actual bridge itself. After your adventure across the bridge, walk back to the entrance and catch the Rambler to Dunseverick Castle.
It's not much of a castle but it makes a good landmark to start your trek back the 4.2 miles to Giant's Causeway and the hostel along the magnificent Causeway cliffs and the scenic views across to Rathlin Island.
Bushfoot Golf Course - This is a wonderful testing links course. It is seaside links and, unsurprisingly, resides in an area of outstanding beauty. The club was founded in 1890 and has a number of challenging holes.
Visitors are welcome at all times except on competition days and there is also a small pitch and putt course open to visitors.
