Liked: The atmosphere. It felt more like home here. The staff were very helpful and booked tours for us, which we were picked up directly from the hostel. The location is excellent- right by the University. Arnie is fantastic- such a chill guy, super helpful. We also loved his dogs :).

Disliked: The room was a little small for 4 girls to be staying in with baggage.

Liked: Everything was there (tea and coffee, internet, street parking), it was conveniently located in the university area.

Disliked: The wifi router seems to have an IP address conflict.

Liked: The location is central. The woodfires are gorgeous and the kitchen is well stocked. It has a nice tv room with lounges as well.

Disliked: it's very small - in our hostel the beds were crammed in quite tight. There are 2 showers for the whole hostel/

Liked: Everything. I think it's the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Everything is really clean. The beds are super-comfortable. The shower was really good. The staff are great. Homely atmosphere, good conversation, and real coal fires!

Liked: The location of the hostel is really good. It's about 15 minutes away from city center and there are many restaurants and eateries a few streets away. You can even find a few small supermarkets really nearby. If you're looking for a pub/club, you can easily find one down the road from the hostel too. It is also really safe to walk back even after it gets dark.

Disliked: The room is really small and our room was quite smelly. Not sure if it's due to another backpacker who also shared the room but because the room was so small, we had to endure the smell throughout our stay there. The toilets and showers are average and basic, just enough to satisfy your basic needs. The water wasn't very warm and the water jet was really small.

Liked: Like staying at somebody's house, everybody was friendly and nice, the staff were more like other travelers, it felt very much like I was staying at somebody's house, I prefer hosteling traveling like this when I am traveling alone.

Disliked: Bathrooms could be a little more cleaner, no breakfast, not in the center of city, but hey, I would stay here again.

Liked: This hostel has a home-like feel to it. The staff were all extremely helpful and made the experience very enjoyable. The two little dogs are a nice addition! I would highly reccomend this hostel.

Liked: Arnie gave us a really warm welcome with coffee, biscuits and a little chat, he also gave us some good advice on best places to visit. Very friendly and helpful staff. The kitchen is big and very well equipped, there's free tea, coffee and boiling water. I liked the atmosphere of this cosy Victorian house, we got our feet wet so sitting by the coal fire was a great relief. The cons are that the toilets are a little bit small and the bedroom a little bit cramped with no lockers in it, but everything was very clean. We slept in a 10 bed shared dorm, and as we are a couple we were given a double bed! it was a great surprise to find that in a hostel. Great value for money!

Liked: Arnie's was so comfortable and welcoming, it has been one of my favourite hostels so far. All the staff go out of their way to help you and give you advice about what to see and where to go. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it just feels very warm and homely

Liked: Loved this hostel's courtyard out back and the coal fires. 'Wee' touches like a cup of tea and bikkies when I arrived certainly made this place stand out from the many others I have stayed in. A very cute and cosy, home away from home! Would have loved to have stayed longer!
