Liked: Large kitchen

Disliked: More like a hotel, not much atmosphere, and too big to feel friendly. Parking was difficult

Liked: The history and feel of the building were really neat, and the close proximity to the station was wonderful!

Liked: Good location for the station. Plenty of room in the common areas.

Disliked: Is a very large hostel so can be hard to meet people. Also, there were a couple of school groups staying while we were there.

Liked: Large common area and bar....good location.

Disliked: Maybe a little big, but its got an old character that is charming.

Liked: Good location for bus and train. Not so good for restaurants. Felt very much like hotel turned hostel in both good and bad ways.

Disliked: Not very helpfull staff, kind of institutionalized. 20 min. walk to Cuba street where most of the food places are. Did nott post on the page that their twin bed accomadation was in bunk beds.

Liked: I liked the centrsl position of this property close to all main services rail, bus etc

Disliked: Could do with some improvements with leaking taps etc

Liked: Definitely upper class for a hostel. I stayed in a 3 bed dorm - I found it warm, comfortable, and nice overall.

Disliked: Please put soap in bathrooms! The computers were pretty bad. The internet took 4 minutes to load up and you are charged for that time. The microphone on 2 computers didn't work and when I told the guy at the desk, he brushed it off and said sometimes the microphones work and sometimes they don't, which upset me as I wasted $2 trying to use them. I brought it up later to a wonderful girl at the front desk and she took care of it for me. Very grateful for good customer service from her!

Disliked: The bed was uncomfortable, the mattress was in dire need of change as the coils were coming through! The sink in my room was broken & so was one of the window panes. The Toilet was leaking on my last evening....

Liked: We really liked staying here - had our own room for a good price, huge communal area and kitchen (which was being refurbed but still kept open), good bar with offers, good food in the cafe at good prices - and great party the first night!

Disliked: we had to ask for new sheets as the original ones in the room were dirty/stained, but they gave us fresh ones and apologised and the rest of the place was clean.

Liked: Very classy hostel, with plenty of spaceas a former real hotel has been transformed into a backpackers. You can use a former professionnal kitchen to cook your meals, or enjoy the great and huge living-dinig room with fire. Very good location, in the city center and in front of the ferry !

Disliked: Expensive internet (but free wi-fi at Mac Donalds next door)

Liked: Nice location. Close to railway station and Interislander ferry. Nice rooms. Great bathrooms.

Disliked: This is a hotel turned into a hostel, so you don’t get that personal hostel feeling. To my knowledge there was no common rooms there. If you arrive early you have to pay for baggage storage. The two dollars this costs will only last for six hours, so you might have to pay two more dollars to get your things out of the box again. Really unnecessary and unfriendly.

Disliked: it is quiet an old building, but it seemed fairly clean.

Liked: It's across the street from the train station which is really great if you are catching the morning ferry to Picton as you can pick up the shuttle to the ferry from there. It's a little farther from the main areas of town, but Wellington isn't that big so it is definitely walkable. Internet is pricy, but it is also right next to the waterfront that has 60 minutes of free WiFi/day. They have a huge clean kitchen.

Disliked: It's a large hostel so it can be harder to meet people.

Liked: Located next to the ferry

Disliked: Awful hostel- unfriendly staff, very old fashioned. Dull and depressing. Worst hostel in NZ so far- stay away!

Liked: I actually wasn't expecting a lot because this is one of the larger hostels and I chose it for its location across from the ferry terminal but it actually turned out to be the best hostel I've stayed at in Wellington so far. Awesome lounge area, lots of space, very clean, spacious rooms and perfect location to catch the ferry.
