Liked: I'm not the average young college-aged backpacker. My daughter, a foreign student studying at Victoria University, chose this hostel for me to stay at while I visited. I'm a 51 year-old mom and this is the first time I've ever stayed at a hostel. I was treated very well by the staff and the other residents. When I checked in, I was a little apprehesive about the loud music, wondering if I'd be able to sleep after a 12 hour flight. No worries...I had a great night's sleep as the hostel was quiet by night time. It was so wonderful to hear about all the great adventures the young people were having...I wish I were 30 years younger! I'll be back.

Liked: great location and comfortable double rooms.....a bit noisy at night from the bar next door but nothing ear plugs didnt solve.....free food in the evening was a bonus....small but free!! so we were not complaining....good choice....go for it!!

Liked: There is no free parking for a car at this hostel, which means you have to park it in the local garage for $12NZD a night and even more for the day.On the lower levels, the club next door is pretty bumpin loud if your going to bed at a normal time.
