Liked: Great Internet and uploading facilities. Nice to be on the edge of the main township, makes for easy parking and quiter sleeping!

Disliked: Ensuite wasn't overly clean; there were long black hairs around the sink and shower (and no girls in the room besides me-a blonde) that were there when I arrived and were there when I left five days later. The door didn't lock automatically so you had to remember to lock it from the outside, which new people didn't do (nor the staff who cleaned the room), so I often found the door left unlocked. I stayed an extra night and was put in a room out the back; the door to the dorm opened to the outside, it was windy that night, and the door banged in its frame all night. Lounge area isn't all that big or comfortable.

Liked: Kitchen was extremely clean, as was my en-suite double bedroom. Comfortable room with lake view, good location, only few minutes walk to bus and supermarket. Helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Disliked: As a non-member of YHA I was charged an extra $3 per night on top of what I believed to be the total quoted by Hostelbookers. There was no mention of this extra charge in the small print of my booking and after I complained it was refunded, rather confusing though!

Liked: Honestly, there was nothing i enjoyed about this property.

Disliked: Everything, One member of staff was very rude when we was first checking in. Not a very friendly place either.

Liked: The movie nights every night were pretty good as the movies were always recent ones! The beds were also really comfy and extra blankets were available if you felt the cold.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Good location, friendly staff, good facilities, movies every night, lots going on, cosy log fire in lounge with great view.

Disliked: Cold in the kitchen and some other communal areas, although there are heaters and extra blankets in rooms and a big fire in the lounge.

Liked: We had a triple room with shared facilities with another triple room which was fantastic. The shared communal kitchen was also really good with excellent facilities.

Liked: Very clean, friendly staff, good location.

Disliked: Very uncomfortable bed _4" lumpy mattress on a plywood board. Thin pillows. Extremely noisy. The management made no effort to curtail partying that went on in the common areas until 2:30 AM. Then cleaned up by pitching the empties into garbage cans which was a very noisy process. Our room was really tiny and did not have any place to use our laptop. Wifi was expensive. We did not try it. This place was not cheap but it was the least attractive of the 7 places we stayed on this tour

Liked: i stayed at this hostel incl. christmas day 2010. this was my first time to spend x-mas at a hostel and to tell ou the truth it was bloody great! all the staff were great some even had a few drinks the location is fantastic. a chick that works thre is actually rudolf the red nosed raindeer herself! so next time you think about staying in wanaka make sure u squeeze her red nose and make a wish. xox p.s. this hostel has its own cinema!

Disliked: There was no light in the bathroom and no one came to repair it after being told someone would in 5 minutes. The next morning I noticed that there wasn't even a light bulb there.

Liked: Liked the first room I was in, 6 bed dorm with kitchen and bathroom. But had to move after 2 nights to a 4 bed dorm where there wasn't a kitchen. But the general kitchen is clean and big enough, so no problem. Only the switching room was a bit annoying.
