Liked: Lovely big lounge and kitchen areas, bunk rooms had a lot of space for personal belongings and shower and toilet facilities were very good. Friendly staff were happy to help and give directions/make bookings and the location is great. Short walk into the township, and right next to the pick-up/drop-off point for cave tours.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: The staff here were amazing. I stupidly lef tmy kindle and they kindly posted it back to England for me and communicated every stage of the process. I was blown away with their integrity. Hostel in beautiful surroundings.

Disliked: It is a walk in to the centre of Waitomo, however, it is a beautiful walk. Even in the dark, I was lucky enough to have a clear sky of stars. Stunning.

Liked: This is a wonderful hostel, with a lovely cosy feel, In a beautiful part of the country. Perfect location for the waitomo caves and the waitomo walkway and ruakuri scenic reserve (highly recommended). The dorm room was spacious with comfortable beds and all the communal areas where clean, tidy. Great facilities: swimming pool, great garden area with hammock, freeview tv, DVDs, trampoline and we got to feed the pig!! The 2 girls working there were always happy to help with everything, informative and very friendly, thanks for a great stay and keep up the hard work!

Disliked: The hostel isn't totally secure as the doors are left open all night for those in the tent sites. (not really a downside) Also be sure to bring all your food with you if you don't have a car as there is only one small store in the township, quite expensive!

Liked: I really like the property and the environment that surrounds it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disliked: The Location, really far from main town, not a good idea if going without a car. Then the Hostel didn't have basic toiletries and normally for the time you arrive there is no place where to buy the basics stuffs.

Liked: nothing, other than running water and a place to sleep (sort of)

Disliked: The kitchen was a disaster! Dishes everywhere, the fridges were overstuffed, and no room for our things. The cookingware was in great disrepair and there was no way you were finding a pot and lid that were the same size in order to boil anything. Many people left their dishes dirty in the sink, not washing or putting them away. the stoves didnt work very well at all, the oven wouldnt even turn on. The rules were not enforced at all. The internet was really expensive, the bathrooms were gross! over all it was totally disgusting, mY friends that were travelling with us were so disgusted, they slept in our tiny cramped car

Liked: It's very close to the black water rafting comany, that's great if you booked a tour there. Also it's a relaxing location, no traffic noise. The farmanimals where great.

Disliked: It's pretty far from town, so you have to walk a long way to the i-sites where the busses stop. Also some of the staff are not that nice. Don't really seam to like theyre job.

Liked: Free pick up by the hostel when arriving at the i-site in town, although we did have to wait half and hour before anyone came.

Disliked: I have stayed at one or two other YHAs before and this one confirms that they are all poor value for money. The hostel was very shabby and the rooms felt like you were in a hut or something, what with all the wood panels on the walls (which also made it very dark). The ensuite bathroom was pretty rubbish and a dead insect had been left in our bin, so there were loads of ants crawling all over it. The location was quite far from town, so getting out and about, especially later on in the evening, was not easy.

Liked: Location good, but overall just a bit average.

Disliked: Thought this place was a bit tired and not very clean. We paid for an ensuite room which was a mistake, it wasn't a nice bathroom so not good value for money. Needs some attention and a lick of paint.

Liked: Nice relaxing and homely hostel to chill out after visiting the caves. Kitchen large and well equipped and the dorms are cozy. The lovely lady behind the desk even gave me a lift down to the village to catch my bus.

Disliked: It was a bit of a walk from the bus stop - however see above.

Liked: Beutiful farm in the middle of the country side. A night or two is enough though as apart from caves theres not a lot to do. Make sure you take food with you as no shops. Juno Hall has swimming pool Trampoline tennis courts and animals to keep you entertained. Rooms clean and beds comfy!

Disliked: Just a bit desolate
