4 Star Backpackers is located in an historic and quiet location by the waterfront. Come and stay at our 1860s building with modern facilities and an awesome garden. 4x4 Rental cars are available on site. We’re the only provider of transport to hike the stunning Pinnacles.

We’re the only Backpackers located in the heart of Historic Grahamstown, where there are many local attractions & activities. We are a short stroll to the Beaches, Goldmines, and Walks, Butterfly Farm, a squash/tennis club, the Miniature Railway, Museum, art galleries, Saturday/Sunday flea markets and pubs. Enjoy the family run atmosphere in our 140 year old history filled building.

You can catch our Shuttle for “Kauaeranga Valley Walk' from the hostel.
The Valley is home to 21 different walks that vary from an hour in length to an entire night through the beautiful regenerated native bush and crystal clear streams, crossing swing bridges and passing by waterfalls. The Pinnacles is the ultimate place for a day trek or over-night stay in an 80 person hut. Reach the highest accessible point in the Coromandel for awesome views which take your breath away and become the highlight of your NZ (New Zealand) experience.
