Our hostel is centrally located in a quiet part of Taupo & is only a 5 minute walk to town. With modern facilities, high standards of cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff, it's a great place relax after an adrenaline filled day in Taupo - lie back in the hammocks or find a spot on the sun-drenched BBQ deck or garden.

A wide range of comfortable accommodation is available from the 8 share rooms for the budget traveller to the smaller well appointed 4 share rooms. Twin and double standard and en-suite rooms are available along with single and triple Rooms.

We offer great kitchen facilities, a video library, table tennis and volleyball court and a large garden to relax in after your busy day. The hostel has secure bike storage area.

The price advertised is the standard rate. If you are an YHA/HI member we will provide you with the YHANZ Member discount when you check in. YHA New Zealand is a non-profit membership organization.

At YHA Taupo we have a range of accommodation available, from 3 bed dorms to 8 bed dorms. Private rooms include Single, Twin, Double, Triple and en-suites.

Location Information

We are located 5 minutes’ walk from Lake Taupo and the Taupo Town Centre. It is a quiet part of town away from the noise of the Taupo nightlife.
You will find that most of the Activity Operators in Taupo will pick you up from our door. If they do not provide a pick up, our staff will endeavour to find you the cheapest option of getting you to where you want to go.
