Liked: The staff were very caring and helpful, and the hostel was relaxed, warm (the weather was wet and cool during our short stay) and well thought out. The laundry, Internet, kitchen and bathrooms were all convenient. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

Liked: Location is brilliant - right near city bus stop to take buses out to Redwoods Forest etc, really close to Fenton Street to go out to eat/drink. Near to supermarket if you want to eat cheaply. MINERAL POOL! Friendly staff.

Disliked: Internet is expensive and slow.

Liked: The Spa Lodge is a very small Backackers, with nice rooms and a very friendly atmosphere. There is enough room and space and the facilities are good.

Disliked: The rooms are a little bit to dark and my matress wasn't so comfortable.

Liked: The guy on reception was really friendly and helpful. He is very knowledgeable and gave us some good advice on where to go and what to see that's free on our roadtrip. He also helped us book the activities we wanted to do. The decor of the place gives it wonderful character. The location is great with shops and restaurants within walking distance. We really enjoyed it here.

Disliked: Rooms were basic but then again I was only there as a place to sleep and eat and its a hostel not the ritz and would still recommend staying here.

Liked: Supernice natural spa! Mika the cat! Cool relaxed atmospher. Staffs knows everything about Rotorua and travelling in New Zealand. Thanks guys!!

Liked: This place was the most shocking display of poor customer service we encountered in 5 months of travelling. We gave an approximate arrival time and due to unforseen circumstances we arrived a few hours late. This has not been a problem anywhere as it is only an APPROXIMATE time of arrival, the guy working there obviously did not understand this as when we arrived he started shouting at us about being late and why had we not called - thats because we didn't have the number with us as we didn't know we would be late! I think this guy had some kind of personality disorder as he kept shouting and wouldn't even let us talk, he was not friendly and why this place employs him to work with customers on a reception desk of all places is a joke. I would not recommend to stay here because of how we were treated the second we arrived, there are loads of hostels in Rotorua with really friendly staff and much nicer modern facilities, go and stay there!

Liked: The staff "akira" and "rog" were extremely helpful and friendly.

Disliked: The twin bunk bed room was very hot at night.

Liked: We had a pleasant stay at spa lodge. Supermarket and shops are right across the street. Staff is helpfull and friendly. Worth for your money!

Liked: The rooms seemed clean. The hostel is very run down. Its quite far out of town but peaceful!The guy on reception didn't have very good customer skills and a bit of an attitude problem!it was cheap though!
