Liked: I loved everything, it was my favorite hostel i stayed at during my 3 months in New Zealand. The staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities were awesome (free spa!) and there was even free food. can't beat that. also it was right next to the whole shopping area/downtown as well as the government gardens and other scenic walks

Liked: Free food especially sausages for Fri's BBQ. Pool game for $1. Location which is so close to Pak n Save and McD. Spacious dorm room and ample bathrooms and toilets. Friendly staff.

Disliked: I think the kitchen could be neater. I don't think it's the fault of the cleaner but probably some enforcement or monitoring needs to be carried out to ensure travellers clean after themselves unless they've brought their mom/servant here with them. To have separate kitchen towels for dish drying, hand drying and counter cleaning. I had my cheese (properly labelled) missing after my first night from the fridge upstairs. This is my first time having food lost in a hostel and so, probably CCTV at kitchens or spread awareness about monitoring of kitchen use? I think I would prefer the microwave not placed so high up. I would want to spill my coffee or any liquid on myself for losing sight of my balancing. Having some stools and a radio at the kitchen upstairs would do wonders! having lockers and individual bed lamps would be fantastic as well as more power points in dorm rooms.

Liked: I liked that you had a key to your room, there was free pasta available and heaters in the bathroom for your towel and togs. Great location too!

Disliked: A little reading light under the bunk beds would have been helpful.

Liked: Exactly what a hostel should be, this place is awesome. Free pasta and rice, free BBQ over the weekend, a DJ on Saturday night, a hot tub and that's without mentioning Chris who is a real nice guy. Great place, really personal, go here!

Disliked: The only thing I can say is that there were a lot of ants in my room.

Liked: I don't bother to rate a lot of places as there mostly unmemorable, but crash palace is not just any backpackers, but the best I have stayed in in 8 months travelling. The facilities are clean and well looked after. The staff are helpful, friendly and informative ( thanks for the heads up on the cheap spa day), and the tours they recommend are excellent and definitely value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at crash palace and all the awesome people I met there. I was sad to leave. Next time I'm in NZ rotorua, I definitely know where I'll be staying. Bloody good job guys.xx

Liked: Staff were very friendly and the facilities are exactly what you need as a backpacker - clean beds and showers, great common area and a well-stocked kitchen.

Liked: Decent location, beds are fine, pool table is nice and, if it was warmer, the spa would have been nice.

Disliked: Free-flowing, not very big on security (even if it is a small, relaxed town). Manager seems to spend more time on his music career and promotions than focus on the hostel. Suggestions are usually either friends' businesses or whatever gains a commission.

Liked: Its a cool place in a good location at a good price. they also do things in the hostel most nights like a movie night or a meal night so there is usually something going on. Also the hot tub is awesome!

Liked: Rooms were nice and large, and hostel was warm while it was cold outside in winter. They have their own DJ and are passionate about new music, which is great for anyone interested in that scene.

Disliked: Things were not signposted very well in the hostel, so new visitors were wandering round the kitchen looking for bowls, and trying to work out where breakfast was, or where the spa was etc on their first day.

Liked: Good hostel, a bit quiet when I was there, but friendly enough, kitchens can get busy and messy during peak times and it is located slightly out of the way.

Liked: Good hostel, cosy dorms, good TV lounge and well equipped kitchens. Bathrooms are a touch unwelcoming and the odd door creaks or slams disturbingly, but generally I'd recommend this place.

Liked: Kitchen's were good and not too busy. It has a really comfy lounge for relaxing too. It's very friendly here and the staff are really helpful in booking activitis, the prices they offer were much cheaper than in the I-site too. We got very comfortable here and had lots of space in our room which was very nice. Not a party hostel when we were there but a nice place to relax and make some friends.
