Liked: I liked that the property was very secure and had ample available and easily accessible parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Especially when reccomending things to do and other places to visit on the South Island.

Disliked: I wish I didn't have to pay for the internet.

Liked: Really loved this hostel. It is in a wonderful location and the staff are great, but overall it just has the perfect character for Oamaru itself.

Liked: The penguins are very close-by and worth putting up with this place for 1 night as it's cheap.

Disliked: Very dated. Very cramped double room. Hardest bed ever, awful mattress. Miserable atmosphere in kitchen/communal areas.

Liked: Very central, heritage building, lovely doors, nice bathrooms, warm fire, small but adequate rooms.

Disliked: it states on the HostelBookers website and on the front page of their own website that they offer free wireless boardband internet. This was NOT the case when we stayed, they had just changed to a pay system and had not updated this information anywhere online that we could see, and still have not updated this information to accurately describe the property.

Liked: very nice hostel with great character, very friendly athmosphere and staff.cosy and welcoming, would always come back.clean kitchen and bathrooms. nice dorms.right in the city center, next to cafes, i-site and the penguins ;)

Liked: Quite possibly one of the best hostels Ive stayed in while in New Zealand. Great atmosphere, great for meeting new people and great location. The duty manager Jeremy was a really helpful guy and a great laugh. Made me feel really welcome. Would recommend this to anyone, Will be back again. Many thanks!!

Liked: Maureen & Tigger were extremely welcoming and friendly. There was a good selection of dvds and a warm & cosy fire every night. It was spotlessly clean, plenty of utensils etc in the kitchens and never a queue for the showers!!

Liked: A really friendly, relaxed and cosy hostel plus a fantastic location - penguins and old town all within very short walking distance. Free wireless and internet a real bonus as well. Beds really comfy too, definiately recommended.
