Fellworth House is a grand old lady with a big heart: you can visit, stay, hold a conference, wedding or event -with 620 square meters spread over two floors, there is room for everyone!

Exceptional architecture, gleaming native timbers, antique furniture, romantic bedrooms, a stunning location and balconies and verandahs, from where you can enjoy beautiful views across city and sea to Tasman Bay and the Mount Arthur range, combine to provide a timeless, authentic experience.

Situated high on the hillside above Nelson, this historic home, built in the ornate Victorian Italianate style, has watched over the city for more than 130 years. During this time it has been a private home, science institute, holiday accommodation, a function and conference facility and a unique wedding location.

Today, Fellworth House welcome locals and visitors from all over the world to experience a slice of colonial history in this unique Nelson accommodation and function facility.There are not many historic homes of this quality and type left in New Zealand.

Accommodation Information

Our grand wooden staircase will lead you to all our rooms, kitchen and living areas. In a true Nelson style our booking procedure is kept casual and simple with a notice at the front door reception area directing you to your room number upstairs. All equipment in our modern kitchen, dining and lounge areas are available for use for our guests.

We offer a fully equipped kitchen with free coffee and tea, free laundry facilities, complimentary on-site wireless internet access, free local phone calls, satellite TV lounge and dining room with sophisticated style fireplace.

We have different types of accommodation:
With Shared Bathrooms:
1. King Room 3 - 15 sq meter room with a Queen Size double bed with seating area and wardrobe offering a view south into the trees.
2. King Room 9 - 18 sq metre room with a 4 poster King Size double bed, tall walk in Wardrobe and has a South outlook onto the trees and rocky cliff-face.
3. Queen Room 4 - 14 square metre room with bronze toned tapestry and has a South facing outlook into the trees with a Queen Size double bed and a intimate corner seating area.
4. King Room 1 - 20 sq metre room with a Super King size double bed that can separate into 2 single beds if required and features outlooks South and West over the City to the Sea and mountains beyond with afternoon sun and sunsets.
5. Basic Single - Single room numbers 6 + 7 are 10 sq metre standard rooms, each furnished with a comfortable single beds ready for relaxation and have an Eastern outlook directly onto the solid stone cliff-face.
6. King Room 2 - 20 sq metre room with a Super King size double bed features outlook North and West over the City, Sea, and Trees above with all day sun and spectacular sunsets.
7. Modest Single - Modest Single room number 8 and is an 11 sq metre room with its multitude of windows visually extending and illuminating the room, has 1 comfortable single bed and storage cupboard between cosy sitting corner and room entrance .

Location Information

Fellworth House is located just 100 metes from the geographical "Center of New Zealand" landmark and its conversational walking tracks is some of the best ways to see beautiful landscapes and explore some of the vast wilderness of Nelson. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, galleries and theatres of the Nelson City centre and the famous Saturday Nelson Market, Nelson Cathedral and Nelson Provincial Museum.

Sit above Nelson on one of our many balconies and just relax to one of our world famous Nelson sunsets. Fellworth House is situated 100 meters from the geographical Center of New Zealand, and approximately 8 minutes walk from the inner city shops, bars, restaurants and theaters, which means staying with us gives you everything that you need at your fingertips.
