Liked: The Waterfront Lodge is one of the only hostels I've stayed at in New Zealand which comes close to the standards of European hostels. Free internet INCLUDING WiFi access (woohoo!), lovely clean rooms with free linen and towels, laid back and relaxed atmosphere, clean bathrooms with decent hot showers, brilliant location, lots of nice outdoor space, sea view and close to town and the supermarkets. Finally, the owner is fantastic, cheers Manni!

Liked: i already recommened this location to another backpacker! manny was exceptional in greeting and checking me in, orienting me to the facillities. the next morning the lady at the front desk, i think her name was carole (?) went out of her way to look up a local point of interest listed in the tour book, both managers made me feel very welcome and i can hardly wait for an opportunity to return!

Liked: Its location and cosy feel was great. Other guests were quite unfriendly though. One woman asked if I could move out of her dorm room because there were enough people in it already, although there was plenty room and an spare bed. She might have been having a bad day, but even so . . . GM

Liked: This was a good hostel for the price, only comment is that they could do with more cups, mugs and glasses. There were hardly any available.
