Toad Hall backpacker Hostel has been providing budget accommodation for over 15 years for backpackers wanting a couple of nights rest while on their journey, or wanting seasonal accommodation while working in the sunny Hawkes Bay area.
We offer free use of internet and washing machines and free use of barbeque on our magical roof-top terrace.
Located right in the centre of Napier city itself, everything is within walking distance, and if you do need transport for getting around you’ll find it is very affordable.
Toad Hall Backpacker Hostel was named after the famous novel "The Wind in the Willows", as Toad was always travelling and meeting great people and feeding and entertaining guests at his house, "Toad Hall".
Over the years
Toad Hall is pre Art Deco meaning it survived the 1931 earthquake which destroyed many buildings. Still standing strong at over 130 years old Toad Hall is in the process of being renovated, creating a more pleasant environment for Backpackers and Holiday makers and bringing it into the 21st century.
