Pinedale is one of the most warmly recommended places to stay so come and see why. A relaxed, homely and friendly base for skiing in the Southern Alps or exploring the stunning lakes, rivers and mountains nearby. We also offer our own 4WD mountain transport.

Pinedale has a relaxed and friendly vibe with chilled out tunes in the background, spacious living areas with sunken fire and surrounding “love-pit” (perfect for relaxing in), a sauna, free pool table, free movies, high-definition Freeview TV, book exchange, high speed internet and wireless access, long dining tables, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, ski tuning room, drying and storage facilities, notice boards and loads of information on the ski areas, hiking trails and other cool things to do.

The sunny veranda is the ideal spot for a morning cup of tea or coffee while you look up to the mountains, or for an après-ski and a look at the clear, night sky.

Pinedale Backpacker Lodge is a gorgeous villa with 5 bedrooms and space for 24 people. There are several different room types available:

• Dorms or family rooms with capacity for 5 or 7
• Private twin rooms

Or, if you'd prefer your own kitchen and bathroom, book into our stylish 2-bedroom self-contained apartment, the ultimate home away from home.

All beds are fully made up and shared rooms are spacious, individually heated and have storage and wi-fi access.

Please note we have a 7 day cancellation policy, so if you don't show up or you cancel less than 7 days before your booked arrival we'll charge you for the total cost of your booking.

Methven is a popular summer and winter resort in the South Island heartland and Pinedale is the ideal place to stay to enjoy it all. Central and quiet, just 2 blocks from the shops and 10 minutes walk to the Methven bus stop (although some buses will pick you up/drop you off at our door).

Shops include book shop, 2 supermarkets, funky second hand store/cafe, Primo Cafe, gift shops, art gallery cafes, plus 3 ski/snowboard shops, plus a gym, art house movie theatre, Visitor information and loads of eateries.

During winter Methven's bars come alive with live music at the Blue Pub, jamming sessions at Steelworx (famous for Tuesday night "Jug n Curry"), pub quizzes, Sheep Shearing at the Brown Pub, Big Air competition etc.

There are loads of great outdoor activities nearby to keep you entertained all year round:
