Liked: staff was really friendly and helpful .. and i was surpised how clean everything was !! ( after reading the other reviews I was a bit worried but I think they must have changed coz my stay there was good :)

Liked: Everything was very good and very clean! Nice common rooms and great views! Nice garden! 6 bed dorm was spacious and clean, with 2 bunk beds and 2 single beds. I liked that there were lots of plugs, so that everyone could charge their phone at the same time.

Disliked: could be some more toilets, every time I came in people were using both of them..

Liked: Location on the waterfront was stunning and receptionist was friendly and helpful

Disliked: This was not at all like a hostel. Families with young children and older folk. Rooms didn't have lockers either.

Liked: Good location, warm, great views over the lake, parking available.

Disliked: Could have been a bit cleaner. Also the 5-share female dorm I was in had no outside window but was between 2 corridors so was light and noisy - the skylight also contributed to an early wake-up!

Liked: Very warm, helpful and kind staff who help me saved a total of NZ$15 for buying the Bulk 5 vouchers that can be used in any YHA hostels. Would have bought the Bulk 10 vouchers had i not already booked for beds in other non YHA hostels.

Liked: there was a VERY bad mix up. booked the 7 dorm room, and there were 8 pple in the end. my friend had to stay in the living room, NO refund from the staff yet, v angry and disappointed. otherwise, the view is really great!
