Your home from home in Kaikoura! We are small, friendly backpackers just 2mins walk from the town centre and beach.

Located on a quiet residential street the lodge boasts magnificent views across the Kaikoura coastline and mountain ranges for you to enjoy in a peaceful environment.

Dolphin Lodge offers travellers a homely place to stay in the heart of Kaikoura.

Enjoy relaxing in the private garden with decking, hammocks, BBQ and FREE hot spa. All of this comes with great views across Kaikoura's coastline and mountains.

All rooms are heated and we have a log fire to keep you cosy and warm in the winter months.

The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen including free herbs and spices, a separate TV lounge with a selection of movies, off-street parking, budget bike rental for you to explore Kaikoura, laundry facilities, 24 internet access and wi-fi available (additional charges apply) and friendly staff to make you welcome.

We have a wealth of knowledge of the local area and we can give you lots of great tips on things to do in and around Kaikoura... and we can even book your tours for you.

Dolphin Lodge has options to suit most budget travellers from dorm beds to double ensuite rooms and we sleep a maximum of 23 people:

Dorm accommodation is kept to small numbers in rooms and sleeps up to 15 people in 4 share, 5 share & 6 share rooms - When you book a dorm bed you will be allocated to the smallest available share room

Private Double Rooms are spacious with 2 ensuite rooms’ available (3 rooms in total)

* All rooms are heated
* Bathrooms have 24hr hot water
* Double rooms have full linen including towels
* Double rooms are with 1 queen size bed sleeping 2 people
* Towel hire is available for $1

Location Information

Dolphin Lodge is located just 2 mins walk from town including the I-site, beach and bus stop.

Kaikoura is famous for Whale Watching and Dolphin Swimming all year round and we are just 5 - 10min walk to these offices.

There are many other great activities to enjoy in the area including hiking, surfing, scuba diving, seal swimming, skydiving, fishing, helicopter rides, farm parks, horse trekking, off-roading, quad biking, lavender farm and much more…all within easy reach from the lodge!

If you enjoy a night out in town then the bars are just a few minutes walk away.
