Liked: the hostel had a perfect size .. not to big and not to small. Kitchen had all the equipment needed to cook a delicious meal and for desert the free chocolate pudding was great :)

Disliked: Johanna left no negative feedback.

Liked: Great character property - colourful and lots of quirkiness. Liked the art corner. The kitchen was pretty good and nice to cook in - fabulous free shelf.

Disliked: Isn't quite enough toilet/bathroom facilities for the number of people. On a rainy day the communal area is a bit small for the amount of people - somewhere else to go would have been good.

Liked: This was a really cute and communal place. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay more there and take advantage of the art and baking supplies!

Disliked: I don't really have anything to add here. Maybe that the showers were a bit hot-then-cold-then-hot-again.

Liked: We booked a private bedroom and it had its own kitchen and bathroom which was large roomy clean and well equipped. We had very good towels supplied too and the staff were great. They even baked us soom beautiful cinamon buns hot from the oven. Better being located on the edge of the town because it could be noisy in summer. The trip to see the whales and dolphins was fantastic.

Liked: Very nice chilled vibe. extremely hospitable staff and owners, good tips, good "green" approach, free fair trade Hot choc, cofee etc....Very good place to either hang out or explore Kaikoura from, one of my prefered hostels in NZ.

Disliked: Nothing. was a treat...

Liked: This place is so cozy and owners have put extensive amount of effort on all small things, like shared facilities I recommend seeing it, really nice place.

Disliked: There could be more parking space and signs to locate the rooms. Corridors were chilly in June.

Liked: Theres no TV, which was nice for a change! Instead there was lots of books and games on offer which gave the common areas a really homey feel. There's also free fair trade tea coffee and hot chocolate, and baking materials for anyone who is craving home made cakes! On the night we were there, it was curry night. For $2 you could get home made curry and home made naan bread. Very very yummy and $2 for all you can eat curry is pretty good too!

Disliked: Our dorm was in a different building to the showers/toilets which was a bit of a pain, but most rooms are in the main building.

Liked: A great change from the chains here in NZ. Lovely hostel, good kitchen facilities, friendly staff, good social area. Would love to return. No wonder it is so highly rated on a consistent basis.

Liked: Not much.

Disliked: The emphasis at this place seemed only to be on socialising in the common area rather than providing decent rooms with facilities located nearby. For example, there was one sink in the corridor for everyone to brush their teeth, wash their hands etc. and the showers were nowhere near the rooms, which meant having to walk through a room with about 30 people in it in your towel afterwards. It did not feel homely in the least and the rooms themselves were so basic that there wasn't even a small bin provided and the lighting was very dim, making the whole place look quite drab. Apart from this, the decor was mismatched and the style of the hostel was generally hippy and a bit on the shabby side. In all honesty, I couldn't wait to leave even after one short night!

Liked: This was our favorite hostel so far in New Zealand! The owners are very welcoming and friendly. It has a great atmosphere and they even offer free food nights once in a while!

Disliked: Nothing, we had an excellent experience!

Liked: One of the nicest hostels we've stayed at in New Zealand. Very cosy and clean. The room was really nice and bright and the common area was really nice to welcoming. Katie was very welcoming and helpful.

Disliked: The internet was very expensive.

Liked: Friendly, helpful staff, nice double-bed room, very good location and good facilities.

Disliked: Nothing in particular. It's just a bit old and it doesn't look that clean despite the constant care of the owners.

Liked: Everything. You really have a feeling of home there. The two owners are so friendly and nice and you feel very welcomed. My next stay in Kaikoura is definitiv again in this hostel
