We pride ourselves at the Albatross Backpacker Inn on our relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation at affordable prices.

Christmas Bookings: Please note due to the fact that we're having a big 'Orphans Christmas Party' on 25th December we are asking that everyone arrives by 24th December and stays a minimum of 2 nights. We still have space available so book now if you want to join in the festivities!

Once the town’s post office and telephone exchange, we're now a characterful and homely backpackers. Run by travelers for travelers, enjoy the friendly, warm and relaxed atmosphere with good loungey background music, free fairtrade tea and fresh ground fairtrade coffee, good free movies in a TV room, separate from the main lounge.

Enjoy our large garden or dine alfresco on our bbq sundeck where you can use our gas barbeque. Our kitchen includes free herbs and recipe books. On cold nights we’ll get the fire roaring and you can enjoy cozy warm rooms with individual heaters in each.
In addition to all this we also have wifi and internet, a book exchange, laundry facilities, and off-street parking.

We are an 8 minute walk from the town center, and one block away from the beach. We are located on a quiet street, sheltered from the wind and traffic of the town.

We are a member of Kiwi Green and do what we can to limit our environmental impact.

Accommodation Information

We have 4 and 6 bed dorms as well as private Single, Twin and Double rooms. Our Turkish style dorm features very cool semi-enclosed bunks with curtains and reading lights.

All rooms are heated and have fully made-up beds with linen supplied. We also supply fresh towels in all private rooms.

Location Information

We are around 800 meters from the center of town, about 7 minutes walk from the bus stop and 15 minutes walk from the train station.
