Welcome to Mountain Jade Backpackers we are modern backpackers in the heart of Hokitika offering travellers cheap accommodation for any budget.

At Mountain Jade Backpackers our aim is to make your stay on at Hokitika and the West Coast as easy and enjoyable as possible.
We have a wealth of experience on the west coast and give you all sorts of options and book you for activities around the area.
We also have a couple of mountain bikes that customers can use to bike out to the lakes for a returnable deposit.
You can relax and hang out in our large lounge are and watch DVD'S from our library, play board games with others or just sit and read from or book exchange.
We also have a coin operated internet computer or cheap Wi-Fi access.
Our balcony also has great views of the stunning sunsets and sunrises that West coast is famous for.
We have a well equipped kitchen for you create your masterpiece dinner and the table on the balcony are perfect on those warm sunny west coast nights.
We also have coin operated washing machines and dryer for your use.

Accommodation Information

Mountain jade backpackers has 3 types of dorm rooms available either a 8 bed female dorm, 8 bed male dorm or a 10 bed mixed dorm.

We also have 2 double rooms and 2 rooms that have a double bed and single bunk above that can sleep up to 3 people.

We can accommodate up to 36 people.

All of our rooms are supplied with linen and heaters plus towels are available on asking.
Showers are open 24hrs as well.

Location Information

Mountain Jade backpackers is located on the corner of Weld street and Sewell street above the Jade Factory. (Large green building)
We are opposite the Hokitika I-Site at the clock tower roundabout.
We are 2 minutes walk from the shops, beach and a large range of jade and craft stalls around the town.
There is also the National Kiwi centre and West coast historical Museum around the corner.
A wide range of restaurants and cafes are also within a short walking distance from us.
