From Christchurch
Driving directly from Christchurch it will take around 3.5 hours to reach Hokitika. If you’ve time on your side, take the opportunity to explore Arthur’s Pass along the way. Once you arrive on the West Coast at Kumara Junction, head south on State Highway 6 for just 18km. You will see Birdsong accommodation on the left hand side, 2km before Hokitika township.

Trans Scenic Train
This is rated as one of the top 5 train journeys in the world. If you chose to travel by Trans Scenic from Christchurch to Greymouth, Atomic Shuttles provide a convenient service to get to Hokitika. (Pre-booking is recommended) Ask the driver to be dropped off at Birdsong in advance, before reaching Hokitika town centre. This way you will be dropped right outside!
