We are steps away from restaurants, a boutique brewery, bank, cafes, shops, and pioneer museum. We’re listed on the heritage walk. Set amongst gently sloping gardens, we have stunning views of the Kaipara River Valley from the conservatory. You can relax in our hot tub/spa after a day visiting vineyards, wild west coast beaches, Muriwai’s Gannet colony, Parakai’s hot mineral springs, river cruises, horse treks, fishing, and great golf.

Polished kauri floors, tastefully furnished, heated guest rooms with incredibly comfy queen sized beds and feather duvets, and luxurious modern bathrooms all contribute to a fabulous stay.

We have available two luxury rooms - the Kauri and Kowhai Rooms - furnished with beautiful antique furniture, including queen beds. Both feature private ensuites.

The Kaipara Wing has six guest rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Three doubles, two twins, and a bunk room which sleeps up to six open onto a sunny verandah overlooking the garden and Kaipara River Valley.

Built in 1904 as a doctor’s residence, the separate "Kaipara Wing" was added in the 1920’s as a cottage hospital. It was the local maternity hospital until 1958. Dr. Farqhuar Matheson christened the house "Malolo" in 1924, after spending time in Samoa. ‘Sau Malolo’ means ‘Come and Rest’, which we hope you will in our relaxing setting.
