Neptunes Backpackers is situated beside the grey river, not far from where the river meets the sea, we have beautiful views from our balcony, my favorite is watching the sun set. The hostel was originally built as a hotel for sailors in 1906 therefor Neptunes has lots of history and character. We are a 3 minuet walk from the wharf where there has been many fish caught by our guest, a great spot for fishing,(there is a fresh fish shop 1 minuet hop towards the wharf so you can cheat too).
Greymouth is the biggest town on the west coast we have many shops and great places to eat out, we also have a cinema 50 meters from the hostel.
A great history house museum is just 2 doors away. Greymouth also has greenstone galleries which display a range of sculptures and jewellery.
A short drive north of Greymouth is punakaiki, famous for the pancake rocks and blow holes. There is also lots of great walks and caves to discover along the coast line.
Other great days out not far from us include shanty town, only a 45minuet bike ride from Neptunes or there is daily transport to the site. Barrytown knife making and 'on ya bike' are not far from us too.
A great highlight to Greymouth is black water tubing, rafting and kayak adventures with wildwest.
The most visited attraction in Greymouth is Monteiths brewery just 2 streets away from Neptunes, A tour of the brand new brewery, a tasting and to finish the evening off with a meal in town with the famous meal deal.
