Liked: The staff is amazing! Very helpful, friendly and funny. The location is also great, just a few minutes walk to the Octagon!

Liked: Fantastic staff, Domingo really did his best to help everybody.

Disliked: About 15 minutes walk from center but not a big problem. Not so clean in kitchen.

Liked: A pretty good location which is close to the center of town. Clean room & bedsheets.

Disliked: We find that the guests did not clean up in the kitchen after the their meals. Which is a bit sad as the overall experience was pretty OK.

Liked: This is such a wonderful place. Domingo is such a wonderful host and staying at this hostel made my time in Dunedin even nicer.

Disliked: It is very close to the bus stop, but a little far from the main part of town.

Liked: Free internet, hot showers, and small size of the hostel were all highlights.

Disliked: The fluorescent lights in some of the rooms became really irritating, there was no mirror in our room, and the kitchen ran out of tea/coffee (not to be replenished) on two of the mornings we were there. The staff are pretty slack.

Liked: Excellent choice, nice atmosphere, great staff, good "home feeling ". Nice heaters in al rooms. Great free and qualitative wi-fi !!

Liked: Double bed was comfy. Huge picture window in our room. An old house with large well equipped kitchen. Seemed to be heaps of hot water, great shower anytime. Free WiFi, but Dunedin is a virtual Free WiFi anywhere city, even on some buses. Lounge ambience was great, but that could change with people.

Disliked: Very badly thought out. A lot of inconvenience, showers downstairs, mirror in bathroom behind you when shaving, no hooks or places to hang clothes, no tables in rooms to work on.

Disliked: The beds were pretty uncomfortable, matresses were quite thin on top of a wooden bed frame.

Liked: Big clean kitchen with plenty of equipment. Great location just a short walk away from town and the Speight Brewery. Spacious comfy room. Free internet and cute cat!

Disliked: Only a toilet on our floor had to go downstairs to use communal shower room.

Liked: The place has loads of character, its like walking around a really old house. The manager was really helpful and the bed was comfy. One of the dorms was awesome, it was huge with a telly and living area... a bit sad that we stayed in a private double!

Disliked: Room was a little bit dusty, made us wake up sneezing most mornings. The security was a little bit relaxed, some old guy kept walking into our room to try and steal stuff. Just make sure you keep stuff locked in your bag and keep the door locked. The hill to the hostel is really steep so practice your revs before you get there!

Liked: The person in charge, Pete, was very capable, friendly, helpful and always willing to provide information about places to go to and things to do. Being an old house the place has great character and atmosphere. The room, kitchen, toilets and bathrooms were kept very clean. Everyone was friendly and helpful and most importantly, they cleaned up after themselves. It felt like home! There was free tea (maybe coffee) at all times. Would definitely recommend this place. We love it!

Disliked: It was quite a distance from town but being avid walkers it was not a problem for us. We also like the peace and quiet of the place. However it seems that there is a bus service to town. Parking was also available for those with cars.

Liked: very cosy, friendly owners and staff. dorms don't lock so you have to trust your fellows.

Disliked: dunedin is a cold place and the hostel was freezing! it was also empty when i was there, so i'd say too quiet

Liked: There was little to like other than the friendly receptionist. We would not stay there again or recommend it to others.

Disliked: We regreted our decision to stay at the Manor House. The web photos are deceptive. The place is weary and worn. Its double bedrooms are small, poorly furnished and ours had carpet stains. Linen looked weary and we had to ask for towels (with this the first accommodation in three weeks that did not supply them). There were too few showers for the number of guests and the bathroom had a large curtainless window that opened directly to the adjacent carpark. The kitchen was dirty as was the fridge and its stale foodstuffs. We were asked to label food but no labels were provided and the tea-towels were of such poor quality that they wouldn't dry the mismatched crockery and cultery (so much of its was wet in the dirty cupboards). The coin-operated internet did not work. The up hill driveway could be car-damaging if you were not careful. If you must stay there, free parking is available directly across the road and the better option.
