Liked: Location was near Octagon and i site and wasnt up a steep hill

Disliked: people spoke loudly into the early hours sometimes and some showed disregard for others with their noise. atmosphere felt strained somehow tea bags were available but no milk!

Disliked: Size of the twin room - was tiny. Mixed showers were a bit grotty. Reception doesn't open until 9am.

Liked: Computers and wifi was nice. Kitchen facilities were also good. Common room is oz in a living room style. Plenty of comfy chairs. We were in a double private and thought it was great. Free laundry load for longer stays.

Disliked: Windows did not seal perfect so could be cold in winter. 45 min timer on socket in room meant charging phones was annoying. Wifi was inconsistent but fixed computers available. Was a bit noisy but not much past midnight. Bathrooms were ok but cold due to open windows too. Not such a deal in the summer but winter could be bad.

Liked: Free wifi was good. Nice kitchen. We were cold until we figured out how to work the heater!

Disliked: Far away from the center of town and most attractions.

Liked: The free Wifi was very handy as well as the location

Disliked: The lounge seems old, and the bathrooms need a upgrade. No shower pressure at times.

Liked: Location, kitchen is really good, loads of cookware and good oven etc. Common room is really cosy, like being in a living room. Really good common areas.

Disliked: Bed sheets and room smelled wierd!

Liked: free Internet in the lounge area which is great. sofas to sit and watch TV. kitchen area is a good space, enough space to cook and sit. relaxed atmosphere. good value for money. i would stay here again. only a 5/10 minute walk into town, close to bars/cafes

Disliked: a little cold at times but there are heaters in the rooms

Liked: I wasn't cold.... That's the best thing (can't think of)!

Disliked: Cheap creaky bunk beds in a "private twin" room about the size of a cupboard! No other furniture (it wouldn't fit in the room). Also the power point was on a 45 min timer before it turned off so useless when trying to charge a mobile phone. Room wasn't all that clean. No external windows. Matresses were thin and very worn- dip in the middle!

Liked: Great value for money, very friendly and helpful staff, very cozy and warm - especially the living room which has computers with free internet. Very clean bathrooms and kitchen. Highly recommended.

Disliked: A bit of a walk from the train/bus station (15 minutes) if you've got heavy luggage, however there is a free pick-up if you stay 3 nights or more.

Liked: I liked the tv/lounge area and that the internet was for free. Shower was good.

Disliked: That the building was clearly stuck in the 60's, the rooms smelled moldy and were really really cold!! There was water dripping from the ceilings of the bathrooms... that can't be healthy!

Liked: Everything. Its by far the best hostel we have stayed in, in two months traveling around New Zealand. It is in a great location. The staff are friendly and helpful. It has FREE Internet. Great clean kitchen, great rooms. A MEGA cosy lounge area with loads of DVD,s. How this place hasn't got a higher rating ill never know, its cheap as well. Its a home away from home.

Liked: It had a good location to the octagon, beer factory and cadburys world.

Disliked: We booked a night for 2 people but when we arrived they only had our reservation for 1 person. We showed them our recipt but they were fully booked so we had to sleep in the receptionists double bed in the staff dorm whilst she took ours. The room itself was dirty and was freezing cold. The hotel staff were friendly to us but later in the night sat in the lounge room where guests were socialising and watching tv and would completely over power the tv's sound with this debates. The lounge itself was lit up by lights in a red kaiyak which mad the lounge look like a crack den. Plus the people in the hostel were very closed compared to other hostels with the only person talking was about how he enjoyed smarhing peoples faces in! Not the hostels fault but not exactly encouraging a nice atmosphere! We stayed here 1 night and then found a cheaper and much better hostel in Dunedin.

Liked: Bunkbeds were not very comfortable, and there was nowhere in the room to put your stuff if you were in your bed or place to keep your valuables. There was also a lack in number of toilets/showers for the number of people staying there. It has a nice big kitchen and lounge, and the internet being included was nice.
