Liked: Very clean, nice beds, facilities are new and modern.

Disliked: The staff was not very helpful, at times even rude. They will only store your luggage until 4pm on the day you check out. If you want to keep your stuff there longer, they will charge you an extra 15 dollars. Also, the location could have been better.

Liked: I loved it here. Really friendly helpfull staff and nothing is a problem. Everything is clean and the kitchens are well equipped. I especailly loved the herb garden as I love cooking. They were building a spa pool and sauna when I was there and hopefully when I get back it will be open. Thanks

Liked: Do not expect any help or assistance from staff. The office is understaffed with significant waits for more or less everything from checking in to check out. The hostel is a good place to stay if that is all you're looking for.

Liked: Very relaxing place to stay. There are nice common rooms and kitchens, as well as lots of benches for sitting outside.

Disliked: The bathrooms were limited in the house I stayed in - not a huge problem.

Liked: Very nice staff, nice rooms and huge bathrooms inprivate rooms

Disliked: Free internet not "illimited" as per say; far from center; and if you did not know... There is no Christchurch center anymore because of the last quake ! Many people that I met there cancelled the rest of their stay and escpe the city the day after their arrival.

Liked: This is a really nice hostel, it had the feel of an old country house, much like the name suggests, like a cosy lodge. the staff are super helpful, and go out of their way to answer any questions and helping to plan your trip round NZ. this is also a really clean hostel, with a nice kitchen, and lounge. also the beds are so comfy- had a great sleep there!! they also let you use the facilities after you have checked out until 4pm the next day, which is great for people who are not moving on until later in the day.

Disliked: it is a not a fault of the hostel, however since the earthquake the city centre is closed, so there is not much to do around ChCh. there is a mall with lots of shops, a cinema and entertainment facilities but you have to get a bus

Disliked: some drunk people at night but thats nothing to blame the hostel....

Liked: Nice wooden furniture.

Disliked: Location is not that great. Far from InterCity bus stops, veeery far from the railway station. Although away from the "center" (which doesn't exist anymore), the street is actually quite busy with traffic even at night, so it's not really quiet. On the other hand, there are shops (including a supermarket) right down the corner.

Liked: Counter staff were totally helpful and supportive with travel & weather updates during our stay (extended due to the extreme snow weather conditions which grounded our flights). The layout of the hostel is so cool; great room and amenities (exceptionally clean); beautiful building and good atmosphere....loved it!

Liked: Great place to stay, nice modern facities, well equiped kitchen apart from the tiny pots. Seemed like good atmosphere in the place.

Disliked: Expensive internet, no lockers in dorms (which anyone could walk into from any part of the hostel).

Liked: Nice, homely feeling.

Disliked: Blanket not included in price, no DVDs in TV room, computer was not working, office closes early, location isn't the best- especially since town centre is closed.

Liked: We had to stay 1 night 10 days after the Christchurch earthquake. The hostel was almost the only one to operate, and it offered clean and acceptable rooms (we chose an ensuite double room). The staff was friendly and if the city centre had been open, this hostel would have been on a relatively good location.

Disliked: The price was at the level of motels providing higher service and there was no hot water in one of the rooms, so we had to change.

Liked: This lovely hostel was in a perfectly clean state with very warm and cosy rooms. Perfect thick matrasses and good showers. The whole property was in an excellent state with a nice garden and enough facilities. I definately enjoyed my stay in the old country house.

Disliked: The fact that you had to pay an extra 2 dollars to get a blanket

Liked: nice place. very clean and quite homely.

Disliked: far out of town for the price. in quite a shady area. when i went to walk around at night there were a large bunch of rudeboys pretty much outside in cars each night.
