Liked: Very very clean and well looked after - the bathrooms were spotless. The kitchens were fantastic.

Disliked: The common areas and socialising spaces were not great so it probably wouldn't suit a traveller starting out alone.

Liked: the price was good until you have to add on $2 PP for bedding

Disliked: it wan't stated on the site that you have to pay for a duvet or blanket. so bring a sleeping bag!

Liked: good old style feeling about the plave.

Disliked: not enough security! you could open the windows to our room at anytime during the day!! And when your life is in the room ( i.e your computer and other electoric gear ) then thats just not good enough

Liked: The atmosphere is wonderful for families. Many wooden furnitures . Everything was clean.

Disliked: Not exactly for young people. No keys needed for room doors, no lockers.

Liked: Nice, laid-back feel with plenty of space. It's a little further out (but not too far) in a quieter location. Large kitchen space and a variety of lounges/communal spaces to choose from.

Disliked: The individual rooms did not lock (but overall access to the site was controlled through electronic key fobs).

Liked: I liked the cleanliness and the people were friendly and great when you needed help. The room was nice and I liked the atmosphere.

Disliked: Wish the room had had a night stand or something to set purse, keys, etc on besides the bed, windowsill or floor.

Liked: Everything about this property is amazing. We booked 2 nights here because it was cheap and looked half decent for the price but ended up spending a week here. The hostel is very clean and every morning a team of 4/5 people decend on the hostel to clean every inch of it. The staff are VERY helpful, especially Gene the manager! We booked the 7 bed dorm but when we arrived it was full so we got a free upgrade to a 4 bed dorm. All the dorms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable, we stayed in the 4 bed and the double rooms and both were excelent. The free bread, tea and coffee are fantastic for the cheap traveller wanting a free breakie every morning. The kitchen was huge with so many pots and pans for everyone to cook at the same time and the whole hostel has a very friendly atmosphere. I recommend this place to everyone I meet heading to CC.

Disliked: Nothing apart from it being a 10 min from the city centre.

Liked: Visually very appealing colour scheme, great heating, beautiful wooden features - floorboards, framing, etc. Close to town, family style kitchen with lots of space, makes you feel good and welcome.

Liked: Very arty, good heating, beautiful buildings, helpful staff, thoughtful touches. Close proximity to Memphis Belle pizzeria, very 40's atmosphere, alcohol free zone, one block away, just love it!!!

Liked: This hostel was clean with good kitchen and bathrooms that were cleaned daily. Helpful staff, who recommended places to stay after leaving Christchurch. We stayed in a double room and felt it lacked character that matched that of the kitchen as the walls were bare and no furniture other than the bed in the room. Nice outside areas. A bit of a walk outside of Christchurch which is fine in the day but a bit of a trek if you get off the bus late and have to walk to the hostel from town.

Liked: Wow! this is the nicest hostel I've ever stayed in (including my own). Neat, tidy, clean, secure, big spacious rooms, solid wooden beds that don't squeak, thermodrape curtains, quiet street, nice clean big kitchen, nice lounge, separate showers and toilets. Each house has its own facilities and has been recently renovated.Consequently, it attracts the quiet couple types so the atmosphere is rather subdued - which makes good sleeping!I would thoroughly recommend this place and I only moved because my friends were booked in another place on the other side of town

Liked: Great place - really well run. Quiet, friendly, pleasant grounds, really clean. We've booked a further 3 nights here for when we come back to Christchurch after looking round the South island. I'd definitely recommend it.

Liked: Staff was very helpful, but I still think it is overpriced for what you get (no internet, no breakfast but I guess this is normal in New Zealand). otherwise it is a good base to explore Christchurch.
