Liked: Friendly staff, location is fine as you cant get into the CBD anyway

Disliked: Very few bathrooms/showers. small kitchen noisey bunk beds.

Liked: Nice breakfast, small numbers of beds in dorm room and lots of space

Disliked: The website says they have bikes to hire and also that there is a free shuttle bus to the supermarket, but these services are no longer offered. Also airport pick up is only once every 2 hrs.

Liked: We arrived late at night but were made to feel very welcome checking in and everything. Good location, easy to find and within walking distance of the centre

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. A good backpackers place to stay

Liked: Atmosphere was friendly and staff very nice. Is really well located to take the coach to Queenstown and other places, and to go to city centre.

Disliked: Toilets and showers could be better. Included breakfast is just some tea and coffee without milk, and toasts with melmelade. Beds are not very comfortable.

Liked: Helpful staff and free transport to / from the airport. Large dorms.

Disliked: The Hostel is rather dated and undergoing renovations. People short of a room were allowed to sleep in the TV room which makes it difficult to use later at night. The communal toilet door didnt lock.

Liked: Nice cosy dorms, nice common rooms (in- and outside), they printed my bus ticket and tour booking for free! Good free breakfast!

Disliked: our dorm room could not be locked

Liked: The Airport pickup and transfer.

Disliked: Its a bit away from the city and there could be better ambience at this hostel, especailly for individual travellers.

Liked: I loved all the staff and the free breakfast, the location was also great as it was walking-distance from the city centre and hagley park. the tour of christchurch was a great bonus and i'd recommend it

Liked: While this is a pretty good hostel overall, there were a few things that really irritated us. For the price, it is a solid choice...and the manager, Laura, is very helpful.

Disliked: First, the bedrooms lack mirrors and garbage cans. Second, the numerous staff members that live at the hostel stayed up until 2am on two of the nights we were there, and were incredibly loud. Third, the internet is expensive. And lastly, the beds are squeaky! We had a much nicer stay at Chester Street Backpackers earlier in the month, but it was more expensive.

Liked: i like the staff here in kiwibasecamp, they are friendly and nice. make us feel like at home. and they are helpful. i also like the free airport transfer and free breakfast provided.

Liked: The location was good and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The hostel had a very laid back and generally friendly atmosphere. Also the daily notices were a good read!

Disliked: It was very basic, which was to be expected I guess because of the price, but they could have done with a few basic things in the rooms like a mirror and somewhere to hang clothes. Also the room was cold and it only had a tiny heater which did nothing. The staff were great at getting blankets and hot water bottles though. Also the communal area did get a bit messy at times, and I think that the staff could give the bathroom and kitchen a clean once a day just to keep on top of it (e.g. we were there for 4 nights and there was decomposing chicken in the kitchen for the duration of the stay). Also, Christchurch is still in lock-down because of earthquake, so don't come thinking that you will be able to see ANY of the sights (there was only 1 museum open). We had a to get a hire car for a few days just for something to do.

Liked: Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help me. Free shuttle service was great for getting to the airport. Walking distance to / from intercity bus terminal.

Liked: Free airport pick ups saved me lots!!! Staff were super lovely. Location was close enough and easy to find. Beds were very comfy and warm.

Disliked: It's old (yes full of character, but sometimes just old) but its obvious the owners are doing the place up bit by bit.

Liked: The bathroom and shower are clean. The hot fresh breads were great. If you don’t have a towel, you can borrow one from the reception. The hostel is a walking distance to Hagley Park which is great

Disliked: We (3 persons) were put in a 5 bed dorm when booked for 4 bed dorm. So the room was kind of crowded.

Liked: Great atmosphere, great people, great staff and the bread served for breakfast is fantastic!!!! I definitely will come back one day!!!
