Liked: Fresh Bread in the morning is great, but an hour late not so good. Free shuttle to the airport excellent! Rooms were clean and beds were comfy enough.

Disliked: The kitchen was really gross when we arrived, no one had done the dishes and no one seemed to care. At least there was one spoon and one cup left to make a cup of tea! Bathroom inside the room was ok but the one in the main hall was a bit gross. I stepped in a big pool of water in the toilet which was still there a few hours later.

Liked: The atmosphere - it is a friendly house of backpackers.

Disliked: There are only two toilets for a lot of guests.

Liked: I loved staying here, really nice staff and HOMEMADE BREAD every morning! One of my personal top 3 favourite hostels in NZ!

Liked: They had a cat, and tv lounge that was comfortable

Disliked: The Staff were rude, cared more about talking to each other then helping guests!!! Felt like u had walked into someones home that didnt want u there. Even the manager/owner didnt put customers first, more bothered about answering the phone and been on the computer then helping guests.

Liked: On a positive note, there was free tea and coffee available, and plenty of hot water for a shower. Free airport pick-up is also a plus.

Disliked: There was unfortunately a bad smell in the dorm. There wasn't much space for luggage.

Liked: Well, probably drop off service to airport ? That's all, sadly.

Disliked: I'd like to describe Kiwi basecamp in a simple word - awful Firstly, Then made lots of mistake not only to me but also to other people. I saw that. And the receptionists were not friendly and polite at all. One of them require to the customer "Be patience." ..... excuse me?? I couldn't believe he said that. and I saw the other receptionist ignore customer's greeting. A girl said "Bye" and he just ignored.... I saw her face with full of embarrassment. Do I feel just cultural shock ?? The room was messy, and when I checked in he made mistake with me and with my room-mates, which was not pleasant at all. Of course, kitchen and toilet, shower rooms are.... ,just messy. I saw some letter about their great friendliness but I think it's just when they were not busy. These days I think this hostel is really busy so they don't care about their customer's feeling. Actually there are some friendly staff but it's not enough. Even though the location and pick-up, drop off service will make you save money, I do not recommend here at all. There're plenty of good hostels around this hostel I guess.

Liked: The free pick up from the centre of town was good. Double room was nice and big with a desk which was handy as I needed to use the internet.

Disliked: Stay would have been perfect but for the noise at night. Our room was over the lounge and at about 10, people moved in there to drink. At about 12 we asked the Night Manager if they could quiet down as we couldn't get to sleep and he did but they kept going so we had to move to another room at about 1. To make matters worse the group moved out the back at this stage and so the noise followed us and we then had to move back to the original room. It was about 4 o'clock before we got to sleep. I am not against a party myself but at the end of day what you are paying for is a night's sleep. We had to get up at 7 the next morning to leave so that didn't happen. There was a tv lounge out the back that should have been used for people staying up drinking otherwise I would suggest a quiet time rule after 12 because the place is so small. Other hostels we stayed in basically shut down at 10pm. One final small note to add was that free breakfast was meant to be available from 8 until 10 but on the day we were leaving we were told it wouldn't be ready until 8.30 so couldn't get it as we had to leave early.

Liked: The place is small but very clean and there 're all services needed like the kitchen, the internet, free breakfast, and the free pick-up, drop-off at the airport. We didn't use the service because we got back there too late for the van, but the staff were still kind enough to call for a taxi to take us there. The place is also easy to find and located on a big main road.

Disliked: The dorm room is rather cold, and the bed in the double room has a bit of bad smell in it. Some kids that group up to smoke in the back of thproperty didn't look so friendly and when we walk through the back door we feel like they were staring at us.The rest of that is fine, no problem.

Disliked: Dorms noisy and echoey and too packed in. Too many people packed in to a small hostel with small kitchens and 1 washing machine

Liked: Homely atmosphere, free airport pick up and drop off, newsletter informing guests of things to do in Christchurch, nice rooms, towell provided.

Disliked: Free breakfast often ran out quickly and was just a loaf of bread and some spread sachets.

Liked: This is a brilliant little hostel with a cool atmosphere. The staff are so nice and helpful and you feel really welcome. The location is a 15min walk out of the city centre but it really isnt a problem and the walk along the park way is pretty.

Disliked: Gemma left no negative feedback.
