Liked: Central to where my we wanted to be. Especially seeing Christchurch City. Which I have never visited ever. For a city nearly broken I admire the way that the people of ChristChurch has not given up on their city. Thank you for hanging in there with true love for you City.
Disliked: Nothing because you guys were putting lot of effort into making it look back to its former glory.

Liked: Very chilled out hostel and good to meet people. The TV room never closes and pool tables cool. Good free breakfast at the moment. The staff sooo helpful and lovely. Close to supermarket and the beach. Met loadsa people and had cool time - thank you Kathryn and Penny and all :)
Disliked: Good location for chillening out and good bus links but if your planning to work in Christchurch a more central hostel would be better for you.

Liked: Clean, 5min to the beach, supermarket and library (free wifi). Nice people, big kitchen, lots of lockers free to use. Free pool table and tv room. Breakfast is really good for a free one! Thanks break point, would definitely come again!
Disliked: Dorms should be a little bigger, 6 bed dorm just fits all the backpacks. Basically there is no nightlife, so if you do not meet good people and/or weather is bad, there is nothing to do.

Liked: They offered free breakfast becuase of the re-furb, as well as 20mb free wifi per night.
Disliked: The dorm smelled bad, the free breakfast was only between 9am and 10 am and served in the cafe not big enough to cater for everyone. The wifi was very poor quality and frequently went off. The staff were well meaning enough but not very helpful. There was very little atmosphere and it was very far (40mins by bus) from the city. There is NOTHING to do in the evening in or around the hostel apart from takeaway and a TV room with a wonky pool table.

Liked: It is close to the beach the staff are great and very helpful.
Disliked: It is very far from the the city, the kitchen had a very bad smell but that was probably down to the people staying there. The private rooms are tiny but you're only the to lay your head. Everything else was great.

Liked: We stayed here for 1 night en route to Queenstown. The hostel is located on the outskirts of Christchurch and is pretty central to several takeaways, bars, shops etc. The lady who owned it was very helpful and friendly - rooms were OK by hostel standards. Standard facilities on offer. It was clean & and safe enough. We had breakfast the next morning which was delicious - highly recommend and doesn't break the bank on price. :) I would stay here again.

Liked: Myself and my girlfriend stayed at Pointbreak backpackers for 3 nights and thought i was excellent. We booked a double room which came to around 50 NZD per night, the beds were really comfortable and the room had a TV in with a heater than warmed up the room really quick. The bathroom facilities are really clean and the showers are AMAZING!!!, they are really powerful and can get nice and warm which was a bonus after coming from SE Asia. Theres a nice big kitchen with over, grill, hobs, toaster, bread maker, huge fridges and a small freezer. The TV room is a decent size and has a huge TV as well. Theres internet access in reception which you get free time on depending on how long you stay and theres also a cafe there with nice sandwiches and cakes for a fair price. From the hostel it is a 2 minute walk down to the beach and to the Countdown supermarket. Theres also shops, pubs and takeaways within the same distance. Everything you need really, i really recommend staying here. To get here from the airport you need to get the number 28 for 7.50 to the city centre bus exchange which takes around 15minutes and then catch the number 5 to the southshore for around 3.20 which is around 40minutes drive as you have to go the long way around due to the state of Christchurch city centre

Liked: This is undoubtedly a fantastic hostel with an excellent hostess. The staff made you feel very welcome and were incredibly helpful at suggesting activities and general things to do. The hostel is only a short bus ride into town and there are several day trips you can book to places like Akaroa, Kaikora and Hamner. The whole place was cleaned regularly and the kitchen was well equiped. Internet signal was very good in all the communal areas and very cheap ($2.00 NZ for 50mb).New Brighton has all the basic shops you need e.g butcher, grocery store and supermarket and many of the locals are very friendly and easy to talk to. Tess, the hostel dog, is an absolute treasure and possibly one of the cutest creatures (and best football players) currently on planet earth!
Disliked: There is nothing bad I can say about the hostel but Christchurch itself is not exactly the city it once was. However, for anyone who wants to exerience real New Zealand and meet a fantastic group of caring and loving people and not just take a few pictures and leave I cannot reccomend this beautiful city any more.

Liked: It had a big, bright kitchen which was nice as well as good common areas. And every guest got a free 20mins voucher for the internet which was also very much appreciated!!
Disliked: It's quite far out of Christchurch town centre, which is fine at the moment considering the state of the city but when the city centre opens up again it wont be very convenient for any potential sightseers (if theres much left to see).
