Customer reviewOK, so it's out of the way a little bit, but it's a freakin jailhouse! I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but I enjoyed my lockup in cell 14. I would recommend this place to anyone for 1 night. More if you have a car and can get around the city. |

Adam ConnollyDouble rooms have tv and dvd player. Our room was next to the real cell, bit of a shock walking into the wrong one at night!! If you like the idea of staying in an old jail then this hostel is great. |

Customer reviewAn excellent hostel with a difference. A highlight for Christchurch. Could be a bit cold in the winter. But remember it was a jail before. Highly recommended to anyone. U wouldn't be disappointed. A 25 minutes slow walk to the city centre along a park. Big supermarkets (20 minutes walk to the east) nearby. Enjoy! |

Customer reviewIt was cool to stay in a jail. When we were there, there was a cold snap in the weather so it was very cold at night, but they have hot water bottles and extra duvets to help with that. Was a nice walk into the city and the staff were very helpful in the daytime when we asked for help. |

Customer reviewThe place itself is quite cool and unique, but the only thing that annoyed me was that unless you're coming in by train, it's a bit of a mission to get to from the centre of town, considering there are loads of hostels right in the middle |

lindsay mouldIts a fun and quirky little place- there's still a few cells that have grafiti art and have been kept in their original condition (you cant sleep in these rooms though!) |

Customer reviewIt's a cool place with cool history. It's far from town but close to the train station. It's a little loud due to apartments located outside of the facility that are inhabitated by obnoxious teenagers, but nothing a couple of earplugs can't fix. |

Zoe HallThis is a lovely atmospheric place to stay - feels like being in a movie set! Very helpful and friendly staff who can help with booking travel stuff. A bit far from town but can easily get a bus and near some nice coffee/tea places and The Miller is a lovely pub round the corner. Highly recommended. |

Katie HallsIt was cool staying in a converted prison, and the cooking facilities and common areas are all really good. The down side is that it is pretty cold, though they do provide hot water bottles and extra blankets if required. |

Laura HennessyThe atmosphere was really good and it was a unique setting. The kitchen was well equipped and very clean. The staff were really friendly and the hostel as a whole was very well run. The only fault I found was that the upstairs common area could get noisy at night which was annoying when trying to sleep. |

Customer reviewThe staff members were great, and the atmosphere of the hostel was very interesting because it was in an old jail. The only minor drawback was that it's cold because the heating isn't that efficient in such a big space (though I found all of NZ cold!) |

Customer reviewI loved the quirky accommodation and the genuinely welcoming and friendly staff. It was really clean. Good kitchen facilities and cheap laundry. And you get a good night's sleep - the beds are realloy comfortable and between 10.30pm and 8am the area outside the rooms is a quiet area so you can get a good night's sleep. Although location is a little away from the centre, there are good bus services in if you don't want the half hour walk. I'd definitely recommend this as a place to stay. |
