Liked: The "cells" were a bit of a shock to start with, but very enjoyable to pretend that you were Fletcher or Godber when the cell door slamed behind you. A fair walk to the centre of Christchurch, but a pleasant one (once you've negotiated the crossroads at the end of the street.

Liked: Really great facilities and spotlessly clean. The beds are super comfortable and the staff excellent. This is my favourite hostel in the whole of New Zealand!

Liked: The design and atmosphere of the jailhouse is absolutely great! Some parts are still like in the old prison days, which is very impressive, but there is also an ironic touch to it all. Photo sessions in the cells are a must! It is also a great place to meet people, it is clean, and has good kitchen facilities. It is the best hostel I ever stayed in during my 8 months round the world trip!!!
