Liked: Once you are over the eerie idea of staying in a jail cell this hostel is very clean with very warm and helpful staff. The cinema room is a gread addition with comfy seating and a variety of movies to choose from. Due to the structural materials the hostel keeps cool and is great for a revitalising sleep.

Liked: Best thing about Christchurch!! Fantastic conversion of a former prision, inside is so bright and airy and clean, very well stocked kitchen and super friendly staff. Taking our 'prisoner' mug-shot photo using the props near reception, was a bonus. Would highly recommend.

Liked: Bright and clean. Simple decor. They have done an excellent job of converting the jail into an original and comfortable place to stay, while still preserving its prison character.

Liked: The character is awesome, everything is kept as it was. Good selection of DVDs and right round the corner from Dominoes Pizza. Comfy TV lounge and well equipped kitchen. The beds were comfy too and the novelty factor is the best part. Only bad points are that it's quite a walk into the town centre and the jail layout means that it is very echoey, which isn't so good with a load of teenagers yelling over breakfast at 5.30am. Would definitely stay again.

Liked: Quiet after 10pm in Bunk Quarters. Clean kitchen and utensils. Cleanest, crispest, bedlinen and comfort. Very gracious staff :-)

Liked: EVERYTHING! It was soooooooo clean, wicked atmosphere, respectful people, safe, extremely helpful staff, had a kitchen, work-out area, bikes for rent, internet access (both wireless and for hire), movies, books, pool table...it was great!!!!!!

Liked: The nice jail house feel gives it a very relaxed and vibrant atmosphere at the same time. Their beds are very comfortable and their wifi rate is the one of the cheapest in south island. They also maintain a high standard of cleanliness all over the place! Jailhouse rocks! Their front office staff provides excellent service...always willing to assists the guests anytime. Thanks for a great stay!

Liked: This is a really cool hostel. One of the best ones we stayed in in New Zealand. The only dissadvantage is the 15mins wallk into town but I would definutly recommend this hostel despite this.
