Liked: Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was also very clean and I liked the fact that people were asked to be quiet after 9pm as other hostels I have been in have been very noisey.

Liked: Amazing what they have done great place to stay for a night bit out of the city. It was clean an beds are comfy. Worth staying to say you stay in a jail! Good atmosphere

Liked: Hostel is situated a 25minute walk out of the city centre, bus stops in front of the hostel. If you don't mind walking it is a great hostel! Wifi internet is very slow, although it is cheap, we would recommend to go somewhere else when you want to use the internet.After all it is just a great hostel to stay for a couple of nights! A lot facilities (cinema, pooltable, kitchen, good showers).

Liked: Very nice and helpful staff. Nice rooms and comfy beds. Well worth the stay and the walk there. its not very central but its easy to get there by bus.

Liked: Everything is fine, except:- silly kitchen close between 10am and 12am- 15$ payment for staying some hours after checkout for late flight etc.- no toilettpapers in most of the toilettes after 6pm- the cinema is just a small beamer, not like the picture on the website- Wifi does not work in the room (cause of the cell room)- you have to walk 30min for everything (supermarket etc.) or bus 2.80NZD/pp

Liked: great atmosphere in refurbished jail - had pool table and cinema facilities that were well maintained. Only negatives were the women's toilets didn't always flush well (being attended to as we left), and the rather too loud music that was piped into the hostel from 8am to 10pm - no opportunity for silence, and not going to be everyone's taste!

Liked: Excellent novelty hostel. Very clean, location is not so good for the city but is still perfectly manageable. Definitely worth a go for intrest alone.

Liked: Great fun night ! The staff were average (one v good one not so great so guess its a gamble lol) we will deffo be going back there on our trip back towards auckland :)

Liked: A very interesting place to stay! Rooms are small and quite basic but that's what you'd expect from a former jail! It was pretty cold too even though we were there at the start of summer. Facilities were good, the biggest downside was the location - it's a good 20 minutes walk into town, although there are buses you can get

Liked: OK, so it's out of the way a little bit, but it's a freakin jailhouse! I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but I enjoyed my lockup in cell 14. I would recommend this place to anyone for 1 night. More if you have a car and can get around the city.

Liked: Double rooms have tv and dvd player. Our room was next to the real cell, bit of a shock walking into the wrong one at night!! If you like the idea of staying in an old jail then this hostel is great.

Liked: An excellent hostel with a difference. A highlight for Christchurch. Could be a bit cold in the winter. But remember it was a jail before. Highly recommended to anyone. U wouldn't be disappointed. A 25 minutes slow walk to the city centre along a park. Big supermarkets (20 minutes walk to the east) nearby. Enjoy!

Liked: It was cool to stay in a jail. When we were there, there was a cold snap in the weather so it was very cold at night, but they have hot water bottles and extra duvets to help with that. Was a nice walk into the city and the staff were very helpful in the daytime when we asked for help.
