Liked: The guys running it were fantastic. When they picked us up from the airport they actually went out of their way to take us on a tour around the city showing us the main spots etc. Mike knew everything about the area and it actually felt like they were taking you into their family!Good bbq facilities too and nice decking outside. Definately recommend.

Liked: i liked the fact that mike and irinka obviously enjoy themselves owning this hostel, and the family feel to the place. i was a bit dubious at first as it is a 20 minute walk from cathedral square however i grew to like this, as it is a nice walk, as well as a good bus service and sometimes a ride down with irinka if she is going that way. after a night out in christchurch it was nice to go back to the kitchen, drink the complimentary tea and have long conversations with other travellers, something that just doesnt happen in a lot of bigger hostels. i would go back, as it was one of my favourite nights in new zealand- you just have to be up for good chats, good walks and lovely hosts, who made me feel so welcome and even hugged me goodbye after only one night.
