Liked: kindest staff. free internet, very rare in new zealand. minutes away from shops, bars and restaurants. maybe one of the best hostels in new zealand.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hostel was clean with good facilities. It is not located in the centre of town which is a let down but it is located in a quiet modern area of the city and is only a 10-15 minute walk away from town. There are lots of fast food options nearby and a supermarket so you wont go hungry. I would stay there again especially as I have heard bad reviews of the hostels in the centre of town.

Liked: the hostel is clean and the staff are friendly but we didn't really like this hostel.our room was small, the sash window didn't lock, the kitchen, dining room were so small we couldn't really cook and had to eat in our room.also our room was next to the bathroom kitchen and telephone so we didn't get much sleep.

Liked: Although it's a bit of a walk from the city centre this is the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in. Seriously. I love that there are no shoes allowed inside. So, so, so clean. I love when hostels are clean. And free tea/coffee/internet (wifi too!) is always a bonus. I would stay here again.

Liked: very helpful staff, they gave us an other room because the one we wanted was busy and we misunderstood each other.

Liked: Very friendly staff who were very informative and eager to help us out with infomation about Auckland and the area. The place was very clean and the bed we had was super comfortable, would definitely stay here again.

Liked: Although Lantana isn't the most modern of the hostels that I have stayed in it is definitely one of the best. It's always clean and tidy, it has a cosy atmosphere and is a great place to meet people. The manager goes out of his way to be helpful. If I could I would take Lantana with me throughout my travels in NZ.

Liked: This is a very nice, quiet hostel. Not a place to meet people though. While I stayed their the majority of people had their own laptops out in the common area so nobody would talk to eachother which I found very strange for a hostel environment. The owners are nice friendly people willing to help with any issues.
