Liked: Location, staff helpful, nice when you want to avoid the too much "business of the usual backpackers hostel

Disliked: could be a tad cleaner in bathrooms, security: door to each "appartement" should lock so people from other appartmenents don't just walk in and take cuttlery very short on cuttlery (only 2 forks for about 6+ people)

Liked: The rates for laundry were better than other hostels in NZ

Disliked: The rooms are musty and moldy, and the windows and doors rattle. There is visible mold on the windows. In the bathroom, the lights did not work and it was very dirty. It literally rains in the laundry room. I don't mean rain coming in from the outside. I mean that the room is so humid, water vapor condenses onto the ceiling and drips onto everything in the room.

Liked: Easy to find.

Disliked: Room was stuffy, Shower pressure was insanely strong! Impossible to shower in and feel clean. Hostel overall didn't feel well maintained.

Liked: Great hostel! Single bed (not bunk bed) is a welcome change! 3 bed dorm is nice and spacious. Double en suite room is also really nice and a total bargin! Communal area is great, met lots of nice travellers and more permanent workers.

Disliked: Not many bathrooms for number of guests but never had a problem waiting for a shower or anything

Liked: The staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities and offers availaibe such as discounts on taxi fares were great.

Disliked: My room was just a little bit noisy at night time and the room was a bit cold - pehaps some blinds at the window or thicker curtains may help this.

Liked: The layout is like a flat share- a few rooms share a little kitchen and lounge- nice!

Liked: Very safe environment. Friendly staff. Good location in downtown Auckland area. Overall great stay. Im a 23 year old solo traveler from San Francisco in for the rugby world cup and I enjoyed it very much so.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Location is Ok. Walking distance to harbour and sky tower.

Disliked: Cleanliness was a big issue. The kitchen was in a bad state all the time due to the stuck sink and infrequent clearing of rubbish (Basically left along the corridor overnight). Beds and toilets were not in good condition as well. Thin mattresses and small toilets.

Liked: Short walk to city

Disliked: We stayed in the dorms with shared bathrooms and kitchen facilities, the bathrooms were filthy, and the utensils in the kitchen had been removed as other guests hadn't been cleaning up after themselves. The location was in a seedy strip (just past the strip joint) and on our first night walking back to the hostel, about 5 stores away a drunken fight was breaking out. The laundry was accessed through the underground carpark and also did not appear to have been cleaned recently.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: The bathrooms were mouldy and gross. The kitchen had a problem with being clean, so management took all the utensils away. The website says reception is there until 10pm, but that's not the case. The beds in the dorm on the 5th floor were old and springs broken. The curtains in 516 were in shreds and the internet /wifi is really expensive. (However, not far into town there are many coffee shops and McDonalds that offer free wifi and the banks offer free internet on their computers. I switched hostels after the second night. The tv on the balcony level is really old and small and only gets 2 or 3 channels.

Liked: we had a double room and it was more like a studio flat with TV, sofa, fridge, hob, kettle etc. Great shower, friendly helpful staff and good location too. Only thing is there are a lot of long-stayers so prob not the best place to meet people and it's not super lively but if you fancy a quietish place to chill out after you arrive in NZ it's perfect.

Disliked: some of the fixtures and fittings (eg. window catch, lights) needed attention but nothing drastic

Liked: We paid around 16 euro each for a double room - compared to the other (horrible) place we stayed in auckland this place was miles ahead in every way - really clean, had a television, very secure, and had its own kitchen area. Very confortable and a great relaxing place to stay in auckland for a real cheap price.
