Liked: I'd say it's fairy good value for your money. It's a short walk from the Concert Hall so you have a good reference point at least if you're unsure how to get back. Atmosphere? Meh, not so much.

Liked: I liked the people I met and the staff, they are really friendly and helpful. I liked the big size of the bathroom and the color (white) of sheets and towels. I hated the fact that it's not possible to open the windows. It's too hot and almost difficult to breath because there is no air renovation.

Liked: It was a silent place with a large green field near it and close to tram and bus. Don't try to walk from the centraal station to the hotel on a hot summer day.

Liked: I had a generally good experience at the hostel, with the only issue really being that the cost of a private twin room was quite expensive. However that was symptomatic of Amsterdam accomodation generally I think and not a failing of this particular hostel.

Liked: The Inner Amsterdam was easy to get to from Centraal Station, I wouldn't describe it as located in the town centre as it is on the site but it's not too far out - much closer than a lot of other hostels. The breakfast was really good and the staff are very helpful. The hostel provides a lot of information about what's going on in Amsterdam as well as free maps etc, and gives a discount on for an organised pub crawl which was one of the best nights out I had in Amsterdam.We stayed in a 6 bed dorm which was tiny and didn't have any lockers, and the bar downstairs wasn't really used by many of the guests when we visited, but other than that the hostel was good.

Liked: cheap and great location but the breakfast was a bit rubbish (just bread, cheese and meat and two types of cereal, nothing warm) and the kitchen facilities were two microwaves which made dinner options slightly limited. there was helpful info about the supermarket, trams and museums at the reception though, which helped us out.

Liked: Beds were comfortable, lots of hot water in the showers, big breakfast: bread, jam, chocolate spread, meat, cheese, ginger bread, hard boiled eggs, cereal, tea, coffee, juice. Could've done with some fresh fruit and/or yoghurt though. Not enough internet terminals.

Liked: The location is ok, very near to Van Gorh Museum and shopping area is within walking distance. The breakfast is great and just like those provided in hotel. Some staffs are friendly some are not, however they do provide widerange of service and information, and confort place to stay.

Liked: This hostel is in a nice and practical location; close to downtown and in quiet environment. Concerning the hostel itself; while the rooms are spacious enough (judging by the one we occupied), the bathroom is quite small, and as the shower and the toilet are the same level and there is no shower curtain, water runs all around the toilet when you take a shower, which turns the whole bathroom into a pool. As for the staff, except a very few members who are actually friendly and willing to interact with the guests, most of them seem bored and not happy to be there. I rarely saw a member of the staff smiling when I asked them something. On the other hand, the hostel offers a very nice and copious breakfast and useful features (luggage room, internet, etc.) It is decent overall.

Liked: Staff were friendly and helpful, Breakfast was quite good but a toaster or two wouldn't go a miss. I wouldn't recommend this place for a big group of lads as its a bit far out of town, 10 min tram ride. great location for the museums. one bed in our room had bed bugs, the rest were fine. nice enough hotel in a lovely area, overall its a decent budget hotel but a bit far out of town.

Liked: We stayed in an eight-bed dorm. We were satisfied by the free internet and wi-fi. The lobby and dining areas were also very nice, but overall, we were very disappointed by this hostel for the following reasons:The dorm room was overly hot, even at night, because only a small part of the window could be opened. We had difficulty sleeping under these conditions. The single rotating fan in the room was some help, but it also dried out the air, and so we awoke every morning to dry, sore throats.The shower stall in the shared bathroom was see-through (most rooms don't even have a stall), and so only one person could occupy the bathroom at a time. This is unlike other hostels, where the showers are separate from the toilets, which I think is a more efficient system.Although the cleaning staff replaced the linens on the empty beds every day, the room itself was only cleaned once during our 5-day stay. I happened to be in the room at the time, and I can say that the cleaning job was truly "half-assed." They did a fairly good job cleaning the bathroom, but they actually asked me to collect the used towels in the room for them. There was also trash on the floor and half-eaten snack foods lying around that belonged to previous tenants, but the cleaning staff was unsure whether or not they should throw them out. I ended up doing this myself. The dust-bunnies all over the floor were also an indication that the room had not been properly swept in some time.The location of this hostel is great for anyone interested in seeing the best museums that Amsterdam has to offer (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, etc.). There is also a good grocery store and a park right around the corner, as well as trams that will take you straight to the central station. If you are more interested in the red light district and bars, though, it's a long walk.The most distressing feature of this hostel was it's key-card system. Tenants are asked to return their key-cards before they go out. When they return, they are supposed to go to reception to retrieve a new key-card (not necessarily the one they started with) to their room. When you ask for a key, the reception does not ask for any sort of Identification. One simply says a room number and receives a key to that room. To me, this poses a major security issue. It seems as though anyone off the street could walk in, get a key to any room in the hostel, take stuff, and leave.Several times, I was asked to return my key to the front desk as soon as I was done with it, because it was the last one they had at the desk for that room. Now how was I supposed to do that, exactly? Several times, the provided key didn't even work, and I had to knock on the door anyway, then ask someone to hold the door for me while I returned the broken key to the front desk.Well, if you've read this far, congratulations, here's my summary: For an average of 30 Euros per person per night (over a big party weekend: the gay pride festival), this hostel provided "fair" to "poor" value. We selected this hostel because of our tight budget, but in hindsight, it would probably have been worth a 5 to 10 Euro upgrade per person per night for cleaner facilities, cooler rooms, and a more central location. We decided that it's not easy to find cheap accomodations in Amsterdam, so you might as well spend a little more to make sure that what you get is comfortable and suited to your needs.
