Liked: Excellent, central location in the heart of Amsterdam on a side street just off Rokin so not too noisy. Probably the cheapest, private double ensuite accomodation in Amsterdam (around £45 a night). Friendly and helpful owners. Would stay again!!

Disliked: It is a little dated and dusty and could do with some TLC, but if you're simply looking for a place to store your luggage, get a good night's sleep and a hot shower, then explore Amsterdam, you would be hard pushed to find a better place than this for the money.

Liked: very central location for a very low price. staff were helpful and although having to wake them up re-entering the hostel, they never seem to mind and always had a smile on their face.

Disliked: the only downside to this hostel was the stairs, they were very narrow and very steep. however, this isnt something that drastically affected our stay as we still had a great time.

Liked: the location could hardly be any better. the room was comfortable and the staff was very nice.

Disliked: if you come back late you have to wake up the owner to let you in - kind of awkward at times. they also charge some kind of 5% fee, which is not mentioned anywhere.

Liked: Nothing good.

Disliked: We were stuffed around by staff because the room we had booked was not available. Had to walk all over town only to be offered two matresses on the floor of an attic, when we refused because it was not acceptable we were treated as though we should be grateful for the favour. We returned to the original location after an hour of walking with our bags to complain only to be given the room we had booked in the first place. Everything was broken and we were eaten by mosquitoes all night. I feel I was swindled out of 60 euros.

Liked: The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was wonderful. The location was fantastic. The price was nice. I don't know why this place would have bad reviews. I will definitely return again and again.

Disliked: Of course there was noise from the street, it's downtown in a fun city! I wish that the door security, as well as the door locks, had been higher quality, but I had no bad experience. Anyone complaining about this place just isn't an experienced traveler.

Liked: it's weird but awesome sleeping inside a souvenir shop! You just enter from the front door (as all the other tourists interested in buying a postcard do), open some kind of "secret door" (while the others stare at you as if you were crazy), "climbing up" some really hard stairs and getting to your huge room just in the heart of the city! the staff is helpful and nice, it's been a pleasure spending some time there, I would definitively suggest it to my friends who want to experience a new way staying in Amsterdam!

Disliked: Not so clean but in the average. If you come back late or if you want to go out late at night you have to wake the owner up so that he can open the door for you. It's a bit embarrassing!

Disliked: Sheet wasn't clean I'm affraid. It's some dark color so probably they use that to cover up its modest cleaninless.

Liked: The sheets were clean and so was the room. Even though the room was a three story serious walk up (with some broken stairs, not cool), the room itself was very charming and fit all three of us very well. Our stay was very inexpensive.

Disliked: The shower was broken, the shower head holder was cracked so when we took a shower we got water all over the bathroom. The shower curtain was extremely dirty, you could tell it hadn't been cleaned in some time. One night, after being out all day, we were exhausted and just wanted to get into our room. There was a sign on the door saying "Went to dinner, call this number if you want to be let in". We were traveling from the states so we didn't have a phone. We had to got to a local bar to have them call. Luckily the bar-lady was very nice and called the guy for us. He said he'd be there in a half-hour. We sat at the bar falling asleep till he got home. It was very inconvenient and could have been so much worse if it wasn't for that very nice bartender (seriously, I don't remember seeing one pay-phone while were in Amsterdam). Also; BEWARE, they only take cash. This wouldn't have been a problem if we had known in advance, but as we went to leave that's when we found out. We ended up being very late because we had to go find an ATM (which was more than a few blocks away).

Liked: DON'T STAY THERE! We were sent to another building and put in a crappy sleezy backroom with ants and garbage all over the place. The suspicious owner was extremely unfriendly and we had to pay €35 a person for a room that wasn't even worth €1!

Liked: Value for money, nothing more, nothing less. Don't be too critical, cherish the fact that this is super down town in A'dam, but for a very affordable price!
