It was camping in Amsterdam, I loved it!!
28 July 2007
clean, fresh air, great showers and loos, really friendly staff. one improvement would be the inclusion of laundry facilities as there are none - slightly inconvenient so far out of town.

The atmosphere, location outside Amsterdam
19 July 2007
I love the hippie-like environment the place gives and the hostel management are canadian-dutch, therefore it made it far easier to communicate. The caravans are perfectly clean and the facilities are in top condition

This hostel gives you an opertunity to see the outskirts of Amsterdam, the areas around the lake and the town are fantastic to explore by push bike hired at the hostel. It's a regular wonderland, thats waiting to be explored.

The stay was very pleasurable due to the friendlyness & helpfullness of the staff, nothing was to much trouble. The location was excellent & the information given on all aspects from picking us up to explaining the travel system was of the highest standard!!! Thankyou from both Ann & i, we are planning a return trip hopefully soon. kind regards Lee.

the quietness, water, trees etc...

Non expensive, nice idea to sleep in trailers, relaxed atmosphere (incl. no noise at night) transfer to/from metro station worked perfect and at any time

atmosphere

I liked the friendly staff and the beautiful location. The private little trailer was nice & we even had our own refrigerator in the room! There's also a nice little restaurant with a special 'backpackers menu' at a reasonable price (everything is 8.50 euros -- for a big plate of good food), nearby. The big downside is the location -- it really is *way* out there, and, while public transport runs there, it doesn't run there Sunday nights (as we found out the hard way!). Also, you need a phone card (NOT coins) to use the public phone at the metro station to call the hostel to pick you up the first time. Overall, though, I'd stay in this hostel again! It was really nice!

We got to experience the other, more chilled side of amsterdam. We were able to relax at the lake and it was nice and quiet. The staff and owners were all great. I would definitely go back.
