Liked: smack dab in the middle of the red light district....WOW

Disliked: didn't feel like the rooms were very secure...anyone could walk into the group rooms as long as the doors were unlocked. no way can you fit everthing into the little safe provided.

Liked: It is not only called heart of Amsterdam it is really in the heart of Amsterdam! It is in the middle of amsterdam in the red light district! The rooms are clean and the location is great!

Disliked: The thing is that nearly everybody can enter in the room! But you have a safe in the room!

Liked: They'll charge you an excessive rate on the weekends, so make sure you check your daily rate for every day you stay. The reception staff is usually rude, but the guys who clean up rooms and the lobby are quite nice. Breakfast is NOT free. If you're looking for a trip to the Red Light District, it's a great location. If you don't want to be in the Red Light District, then it's an awful location.

Disliked: I didn't like dealing with the people at reception. Their luggage closet downstairs is not secure at all.

Liked: The location is amazing - right in the middle of the red light district, and really a walk away from everything that you'd want to see - except for the van Gogh museum, which might be a tad further than you'd usually like to walk, but not too far away. In addition, if you ask for a safe key you get access to a pretty large safe right next to your head which can be opened only with your key. This made me allot more at ease with leaving my stuff there and going out to look around.The staff is generally also very helpful, giving me good advice and directions to whatever I needed (directions to stuff, Asprin to get over the hangover...).Last and not least, free internet and wireless to the people staying at the hostel (ask for the code at the desk) is also good, though that might be commonplace in Amsterdam's hostels, I am not sure.

Disliked: - Thin walls and ceilings: if someone is having a party in a nearby room, it will be hard to sleep. Bring ear-plugs (and a cover for the eyes if you are sleeping in a room with other people). - Got my ubrella stolen from the edge of the window - the thief just grabbed what was there and ran. So - the hostel does have some safety issues.

Disliked: Not much in terms of communal areas in which to meet other travellers. More hotel than hostel like.

Liked: Clean towels and room serviced daily. Security lockers in room. 3 euro breakfast. Central locations

Disliked: Only one key for 8 bed dorm. Given 'security id cards' to show on entry but staff rarely checked. Lives up to it's name, right in the 'heart of amsterdam' with live sex shows and the ladies across the road...if that's what you're after, perfect location.

Liked: Well cleaned, beds were freshly covered. Enogh space for lugguage. Non-smoking-rooms, smoking-place outside. Close to Central Station, in the middle of the red-light district but quiet at night.

Disliked: The showerin our room worked just 50%: water cames, but didn't go away. I told em, they answered it'll be done within 24h and we should take the public shower. Didn't really matter, very close and clean.

Liked: The themed rooms were pretty cool, except ours which was The Wall--meaning the walls were red with black accents, so it was very dark. The location in the red light district was pretty good.

Disliked: The bathrooms are very dirty and gross.

Liked: it deserve its name. really heart of amsterdam. middle of the red light district. has got safety box and toilet and bathroom are clean. beds are great. everyday clean towel. internet.

Liked: pass

Disliked: Horrible class of travellers staying at this hostel due to its location. Expect to meet nothing but *extremely* drunken english skin heads and seedy old men that just want to get their rocks off in the red light district. No atmosphere or communal environment at all, all men, not fun.

Liked: Overpriced and overrated.

Disliked: The rooms suffer from a lack of ventilation and there is no drainage in the bathrooms meaning there is an extreme danger of slips.

Liked: Clean rooms and fresh sheets a plus. Great location, right in the red light district.

Disliked: Negatives - only one key for each room so there is no real security, also you don't need a key to get into the building. A bit expensive especially on weekends, but i guess you pay for the location. Good if you want to party.

Liked: Hostel was everything description said it would be. Easy to find and close to Centraal Station. The rooms were clean and beds were comfy so no complaints in regards to sleep! I had read previously that the staff (manager?) was not helpful however my experience was totally different and they patiently helped me with all my questions!

Disliked: This isn't so much a dislike but know that when it says it's in the heart of the Red Light District, that's exactly where it is! The RLD isn't my scene with the weed, prositutes and partying so just know that when you book the hostel you'll be surrounded by that. There is a live porn show next door! No issues with the hostel itself but more with my poor choice in location!
