Liked: Location. Window was right above the street, so I could watch what was going on even when I wasn't down there.

Disliked: Reception didn't seem to be very responsive to questions. I asked for a towel at 7am and was told there were none. I ended up using some extra bedding in the room as a towel.

Liked: Its location, and the staff clean the bathrooms twice a day. The bedding is very clean and the sheets are of high quality

Disliked: the price on friday and saturday was 4x the price i payed on sunday and monday

Liked: The cleanliness of the toilets and shower room are brilliant. The room itself is plain, exactly what you pay for in a hostel really.The staff on the door are more than happy to let you use their own computer to print flight tickets off etc. also very helpful with anything. The irish bar underneith was really good. full sky sports and english channels. good selecton of continental beers and not too badly priced because you get %25 off food and drink in there if you stay in the white tulip.

Disliked: nothing. we had a few loud people in our room, but hey ho its a hostel, dont like that then pay for a hotel...

Liked: I think the place overall, was exactly what i wanted. its a hostel NOT a hotel what do u expect...service was fine... kept ourselves to ourselves but they where always there no matter the timmevery PLease

Disliked: just the chiming tower every morning but i think it gets wasted people out of bed so probably a good thing,

Liked: The White Tulip Hostel is situated in a great location.. As you come out of Amsterdam Central Rail Station, you only walk 400 metres straight ahead, then turn left behind the grass hopper pub.. Its so easy to find.. The receptionist was great, he spoke good English, and within minutes we were in our very clean 10 bed dorm on the top floor.. Also the unisex bathroom of 4 showers and 4 toilets were very clean too.. The laundry guy changed the bed sheets every morning... This is a great hostel for only 20 euro per night.. 5 euro deposit on your front door key and 5 euro deposit on your bedroom locker key.. If you wear the hostel wristband, you will get 25% of food and drink downstairs in the Irish bar...Behind the hostel is the famous red light area, it is very safe at night, there is never any trouble, but just keep your wallets in tight pockets.. and watch out for the lady boys.. lol..

Disliked: The property was excellent, but the only dislike was the sound of church bell chimes from the huge church behind the hostel.. They ring every 15 minutues.. The White Tulip is on a very busy street, and it is noisy all night.. My advice is take some ear plugs or book a middle floor to cushion the bell chimes, or book a back room away from the main street..

Liked: near the train station, near the red light districts and pubs. happening street to be on. rooms are spacious, lots of bathrooms available, clean as well.

Disliked: the building was under renovation, so couldnt store our luggage after check out. the reception guy wasn't exactly very friendly towards me.

Liked: It was near Amsterdam Centraal station and the city center. It's pretty easy to find... That's about it.

Disliked: I got a pretty sketch feeling and at the bottom of the bathroom doors there was mold or something. They definitely need to check that out.

Liked: Nice location, very friendly staff (they even have a computer with internet access which costs only €0.50 for half an hour, and they offer to print anything you need for free which was very handy for us to print off our boarding passes after checking in on-line). The 25% discount on food & drink in the Irish bar was also very nice, and the food was good too.

Disliked: It's very very close to the Oud Kerk (Old Church), which has active bell-ringers who ring the bells every 15 minutes (they stopped at about midnight). It wasn't too much of a problem since we didn't stay in the hostel much at all but it was a bit annoying. Also, only one key card was given out for the room which was also a nuisance, it would have been preferrable to have one keycard per person.
