Liked: The staff was really friendly, and great discounts on the pub next door. The rooms were clean, and it had a friendly feel.

Liked: The hostel is right in the middle of one of the best streets in the city and has lots of interesting things right at the doorstep like coffee shops, restaraunts, bars and the red light district. It has an Irish Pub downstairs which plays decent music and has good deals on beer. The smoking terrace outside is a great place for meeting new folk. The stairs aren't as narrow as lot of other places I've stayed in.

Disliked: There are loud bells ringing from somewhere very close by that start ringing around 7am every morning and then continue on almost constantly all day. You can also hear everything going on outside crystal clear until things die down around 5am. There's no air conditioning or proper ventilation in the rooms so you have to keep the windows open which means if you're a light sleeper then don't bank on getting much sleep while staying there. The room we stayed in didn't have it's own bathroom and we were on the 3rd floor which only has a communal toilet at the end of the hall. We had to go downstairs to use the communal showers.

Disliked: How can they charge 5 per cent for a debit card transaction our bill was over £2000 pounds so £100 to use debit card is ridicilous who is going to walk around with over £2000 pound in cash

Disliked: sometimes, they allow extra people in your room which has already 10 people in it

Liked: The location will serve you well if you intend to stay out very late. It's extremely close to the train station.

Disliked: Beds are very small, and the red light district can be extremely noisy when handled. Baggage will only be stored in the lobby when your room is not ready/ after you leave, which made me feel a bit insecure. Additionally there is no breakfast provided and checkout time is rather early.

Liked: Excellent Location. Close to Main train sation.

Disliked: It was loud. The hostel is located on top of a bar and on a busy road. Very expensive Sat. night (55 euro compared to 20 euro on other nights)

Disliked: Weird bathroom set up. The room smelt like a locker room. Nothing special. Just an average place to sleep.

Liked: The location is excellent, Friendly(ish) staff lol, clean and safe. The Irish pub is great and it's nice to get the 25% discount. To be honest if you are going to Amsterdam to get trashed (like me ;)) or are travelling and want a place to stop over and have a good time I recommend the White Tulip.

Disliked: This is not the place to come to if you want a quiet time but that is mainly down to the location.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was right in the heart of the Red Light District which is both good and bad. Lockers in room with lock provided by the hostel. Towel included and shower was hot. While it said internet was not free, it was (AWESOME).

Disliked: In a room of 12, I was one of two felmales. Most of the guys were 20-30 year old males looking to take advantage of the hookers and weed. It was very loud and roommates were disrepectful when others were sleeping. Can be fun for meeting other budget travelers but not all are students or young backpackers. Also close to a church that has bells almost all night. The shower drains did not drain well. WiFi would be nice in the rooms instead of just the limited common area.

Liked: I liked Brian, the guy on the reception (he was surprisingly chatty and extremely helpful). So you wont be bored if he is around :) I liked free WI-FI, a big table in the room, cozy shared area on the each floor, the frequancy of cleaning.

Disliked: The idea of co-ed Toilets/showers (the shower cabins are too small to put all the stuff like towels,clothes without making them wet and it's not an option to do it outside the cabine cause THE TOILET/SHOWERS ARE CO-ED (M/F). I was really confused :( So I recommend the Administration to make the toilets/showers for the guys and girls separate!

Disliked: The toilets and bathrooms are dirty! The staircase was really killing me and my frens. Not amny facilities available in this hostel.

Liked: sheets and towels clean and hot showers; good location; Credit cards accepted; 24 hour reception.

Disliked: The stairs are EXTREMELY difficult to climb up and down with luggage. Believe it! And don't wait elevators ... there's not! and don't forget the RATS in the rooms!

Liked: The location is near to the Amsterdam central station, about 10-15 mins walk, if you get your directions right. The pub below offer 10% discount if you stay with White Tulip. Free towel and wifi is a plus point. Toilet is being cleaned almost everyday. Shower room was small but with constantn hot water supply. Big locker is provided in the room.

Disliked: due to peak season, there were shortage of beds. The entire room was woken up 1 night at 2am, as the staff try to relocate the bed to accommodate new people coming in.

Liked: The White Tulip has an amazing location, and was very clean.

Disliked: The no smoking rule was not enforced. Designated smoking areas would create a nice balance.

Liked: In the beginning I liked that it was so close to centre of red light district

Disliked: By the end I hated the fact it was so close to red light district, wish we stayed further away so we weren't surrounded by it all the time. Would be good if they had some sort of cooking facilities or a fridge.

Liked: The fact it was in the center of Amsterdam. Everywhere was really easy to get to from there, and we didn't have to rush on our way back because Amsterdam Centraal station was just down the road. The staff were really nice and helpful and it was a really friendly place to be in.

Disliked: Well, when we first came in there was a really drunk person at the desk, and I was a bit doubtful. But the staff behind the desk were very nice about it and told us that he wasm't going to be in our room, so it was fine. The showers didn't really stay up but managed to have a shower anyway. Nothing really bad, maybe the bells from the church right next door would annoy people but I thought they were really pretty.
