The manager of this hostel is awesome - really helpful and gave us some useful information.
This is a beautiful authentic hotel - really nice to go to tuck away from the hustle in the medina

The lovely "relaxation room" was a great getaway. The breakfasts were great, and the rooms were gorgeous, done in ornate, Moroccan style.

This guesthouse is BEAUTIFUL. The interior of the hostel has amazing tilework from top to bottom, there is a large "relaxation room" with a CD player, a smaller breakfast nook (also with CD player and books to read), a rooftop terrace and a solarium (and another CD player). All quite welcome after a long and sometimes disconcerting day in the Medina. These rooms, and the bedrooms, have new, clean and modern furnishings and a slight Hindu twist to the traditional Arabic design. Our bedroom was big and exquisitely detailed with Arabic/Moroccan latticework. The queen four-post bed was very comfortable. Everything was impeccably clean. There is hot water all day (quite a luxury). Breakfast is served with a view of the beachfront, which is nothing special to look at, but nice nonetheless. Our free breakfast consisted of fresh-squeezed orange juice, personal French Press coffee or mini teapot, bread, rolls and crepes, with butter, fresh (goat?) cheese and apricot jam. There was also a "tapa" of fresh-cured olives. This was my girlfriend's third trip to Morocco and her second time in Tangier and she loved this place.
The highlight of the guesthouse is the host, Idriss, who might be the nicest person in the world.
The hostel is located just within the fringe of the Medina, a few streets from the Petit Socco square, which is a plus and a minus. It is about a ten minute walk down to the Port, which is also a plus and a minus. Tangier is a port town and is suitably dodgy. The Medina and especially the Port are not particularly the best parts of town. You are likely to be eyed, followed, hit up for money, hustled, witness gas-huffing steetkids, offered "something special" and feel almost at all times entirely out of your comfort zone. The Dar Jameel Guesthouse is a virtual oasis. Highly recommended.

It is very clean, safe, and close to the bustle of the old medina. The owner is very hospitable as well. The guesthouse itself is a beautiful building with 4-5 levels to explore, admire, and enjoy.

The guesthouse manager was incredibly accomodating, freindly and helpful, he couldnt have done more to help us out and feel at ease! He happily called around hotels in our next destination and helped us book a room and taxi. The room was beautiful, we were right by the port and centre of medina and there was so much space in the guesthouse to sit and relax.
