Liked: quite liked the room, not that i got any sleep in it!

Disliked: have been to marrakesh many times. on returning from Essaouira i booked this hotel specifically because it was away from the main square which i thought would be noisy on new yrs eve. My girlfriend and i were travelling with our elderly mothers. We had booked a double and a twin room. On arrival at 1 oclock< check-in time> only one of our rooms was ready, not a huge problem, bit inconvenient. Then paying, the guy tried to charge me 2350 dirhams< about £156>. i owed him about £56 for both rooms ,having paid a deposit. No he said the rest of the money was for the 4 dinners i had booked for that night, it was obligatory to have dinner there if staying at the hotel that nite. Now i wasnt born yesterday , i had my booking confirmation, there wasnt even anywhere online to book dinner!! Said he wud have to talk to his manager. Rude and trying to shoehorn guests into their vastly overpriced dinner. Would have left but we were with our mothers and tired from travelling, wanted to have dinner in the square that nite. Room still not ready, paid bill, minus dinners! dumped bags in one room, went sightseeing. That nite the music was so loud in the courtyard it was unbearable, huge ampifier playin terrible europop and wierd stuff. Our room was above this and the kitchen. Now i know it was new yrs eve but it was ridiculous! Earplugs useless. the guests sitting around the courtyard cudnt even hear each other, deafening! total disregard for anyone else staying there. We packed up and left at 2 in the morning with our elderly mothers. Said they were about to turn it off, but we had already heard it for 4 hours! Shouted at me "you,ll never get a room anywhere now". I simply cudnt stand to be there any longer, since knocking back the dinner we had been ignored. I have been to morocco 10 times and this was the worst experience ive had. Anyway walked upto the Hotel Cecil ,right on the square, got their last room< 4 beds!> and slept and a great breakfast. Dont stay at the Oliviers!! Rude, dishonest and unhelpful, just what you want from your hotel!!!
