Customer reviewThey're are definitely better choices in Essaouira, the atmosphere wasn't great and overall I would just say it was just an boring, average hostel. Lockers would have been good. Haven't spoken to any staff here during the stay. That said, it was one of the cheapest here and it was clean. |

Andrew JarvisVery nice hostel with a lot on offer. Easy to get to..Supertour bus stops jsut outside Medina and hostel is easy to find ~10min walk. They have signs as well pointing you in right direction and the directions that came once booked very accurate. Decent sized hostel with plenty of people staying so very good to meet other back packers. Very big common room wiht bar, play station, tv, hammock, sofa and internet. They have toilet and two showers on each flower. Showers are secure and decent size...water comes out powerful and hot immediatley, this palce had the best showers I used whilst there and was really pleanst suprise, can't beat a good shower!! They had a party there one night as was owners birthday which was great fun. They are always happy to help and offer advice.Rooms had bunk beds, covers, and towels. You are right in the Medina near all the attractions of the souks, beach, port, etc... well worth it..but just for back packers really. |

Kathryn HetheringtonThe atmosphere in this place is fantastic, really lively and fun. There's chatting and music late into the night and it's a really good place to meet fellow travellers! Also really clean and the facilities are awesome! I really can't fault it. |

Customer reviewgreat place to hang out and meet people... it is a small medina, so location is not a problem, easy to walk everywhere. Free surfboards to use when the waves are good! all in all, a great experience! |

rosie linfordthe best place we stayed in for meeting other travelers. Very sociable atmosphere. The staff let you borrow surfboards for free and there is a kitchen on the roof for cooking your own food. Only downside was that it didnt provide breakfast, which when you are paying as much as you are would be included. Overall, really fun and deservs its rating as the second best hostel in africa :) |

Customer reviewEssaouira hostel was far from being the second best hostel in Africa. We stayed in four hostels whilst in Morocco, including the number one hostel in Africa, which was so, so far above this it's hard to comprehend (Equity Point is absolutely stunning). First of all, I'd recommend missing Essaouira completely to anyone visiting Morocco; the streets were the worst-lit of all the cities we visited, the children the most bratty (there's a few around the hostel doors that like to steal stuff, peer under skirts and grab lady-bits, so keep your wits about you), the sea the dirtiest I've ever seen anywhere. The beach was too windy to bear. Complaining of this to one of the hotel staff we were told 'Essaouira is much better than Fes. Of couse, I've never been to Fes.' and 'This hostel is more about coming back and partying.' Because why Wouldn't you go to a Muslim country to meet English wankers, get pissed, and worm your way into bed with some skank? But that kind of sums up the whole atmosphere of the place. Yeah, it's clean, and they provide toilet paper, yes, there's a hangout area (although I wouldn't recommend the roof terrace as there are usually about ten people bedding down on the 'sunbeds' and the 'courtyard garden' is more of an air-well to provide some small relief from the constant smell of shit coming from those all-important toilets on every floor), the showers aren't too bad and the staff are friendly. Don't expect to get much sleep while you're here, though, the air-well carries sound as well as air to ensure that you can hear every word of ten simultaneous conversations about 'Beni' as well as the most annoying music your fellow guests have on their iPod. Oh, and I'd recommend eating out as well; the food at the hostel is lovely, but even more expensive than their alcohol. |

Christopher PadfieldA great hostel; very easy to find in the Medina - management are very active and friendly and create a great environment to meet people. One of the few places you can find alcohol - which results in a few late nights! Hostel is kept clean (beds even get made!) and there is free internet. Great all round. |

Federico LopezThis hostel was nice. Plus I could enjoy a great breakfast in a local cafe a few meters from the blue phone sign. I took a kind of lovely paincake called pain au bois and tea. And I met a local sailor who showed me the town and the harbor. And brought me to Mogador island with his boat. The original town's settlement with the old houses and mosks. And eventually we had the best meal I ever had. We went to the local market, bought the ingredients and brought them to a restaurant where the cook prepared them for us. Delicous. A wonderfull experience. You will find this local sailor every morning in the local cafe. Ask for Omar. Issour Omar. Bear and green cup. And a really nice person. Request him to tell you about the legend of the servant tried to scape form Death. Or the tale about the two people who dreamed. |
