Liked: The staff was nothing short of amazing. I was sick with food poisoning while I was there and it was as if I were home being taken care of by my family. I loved the hostel: the terrace, the hammocks, the location, and once again, the people. The atmosphere was great, music playing all day:) Thanks for a wonderful time. Danielle, Carolyn, Shannon, and Courtenay.

Disliked: that I had to leave..

Liked: Essaouira Hostel is hands down the best value for money hostel I've stayed at in my four months living in Morocco. The staff is friendly and generous and the communal space downstairs provides a good area for you to meet other people. I stayed in the hammock for budget reasons and it wasn't bad at all, so don't be afraid of "roughing it."

Disliked: Honestly, I always try to give a balanced review, but I can't really think of anything to put here... I had a very positive stay.

Liked: What can I say....... Honestly the best place I have ever stayed in. The Essaouira hostel is a travel experience on its own. Something for everyone - Chillout, Partying, Peaceout. There is such an amazing energy about the place. So much love and good vibes. Instanttly you feel completely relaxed and at peace. In my 2 years abroad I have never come across anywhere that comes close to the atmosphere created here. So many special and like minded people from all over the world coming together in one place... A thousand Thankyous to the The beautiful guys, Madjid and Mehdi, and the two wonderful girls, always friendly and smiling. They are all just so sweet and friendly. Nothing is a problem for these guys. I met some of the greatest people and had the greatest chats I have come across on my travels so far. You are never short of interesting conversations or making new and wonderful friends. Especially enjoy sharing food and creating special dishes with everyone. I do warn you this place is addictive...I was so absorbed in the magic of this hostel that I ended up under The Spell...... " Just one more night..... Maybe One more...Maybe tomorrow....on and on.... Leave your plans open for a longer stay!! Reflecting back on my travels this is definetely one of my highlights. I miss you all and cant wait to cross paths with all the amazing people that I was blessed to meet. xoxox Till next time... En Shaalah

Liked: most relaxed hostel I have ever stayed at! Came for two nights and am still here after seven :). It has everything you need! the most amazing staff I have ever met, wifi, bar, food, kitchen and a great terrace. It's impossible not to feel at home here! Haven't even left yet and can't wait till I get the chance to come back again :) Cannot thank Mehdi and Magik enough for making it such a great stay!

Liked: Essaouira hostel is fantastic! The manager Medhi is the most AMAZING guy! He looked after us so well and made sure we were safe and happy all the time! I would definitely reccommend the Essaouira hostel for it's friendly and fun atmosphere and staff!

Liked: Essaouira Hostel is a fun, comfortable and safe place, feels almost like a home. The staff is extremely friendly, fun and helpful. Free wifi is extremely useful!! Lovely terrace. Like a calm oasis. Hostel 'wakes up' in the evening and is a great place to meet fellow travellers and get great tips. I did not have time to join the parties in the evening (very early bus) but they sounded fun. I stayed in the lovely pink room where I also met some great people who gave me useful tips (and I ended up changing my itinerary a bit because of that). Would definitely stay here again!

Disliked: No complaints, really. The showers on our floor could slightly be improved - something to hang your clothes on would be useful and the main light bulb was missing so it was a bit dark. I checked the showers on other floors and were better. Nothing else really.

Liked: The Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful for each and every guest. During the stay, they organized a fish bbq on the roof, and also did common cooking sessions. they helped us book tours (quad, camel ride) and recommended places to eat etc. Shisha was always provided as well.

Disliked: only one toilet for a floor with ca. 10 people. also the rooms described as "en suite" had only shower included, not a toilet and not a sink. some lightbulbs were broken so that once the sun was gone, it got very dark.

Liked: What can be said about this place - the hostel manager, Mehdi is a great guy who is always ready to help with whatever you need and up for a laugh - nothing is too much for this guy....A+..!! Ibrahim and the dog are cool characters too!! I am already thinking about returning to this place in the summer - it makes a stay in Essauoira 10x times better than if you stayed anywhere else - especially you are travelling along and want to meet ppl..!! ;-)

Liked: Nice relaxed hostel - great location- great rooms and free internet. Staff very friendly and helpful- even cooked us a traditional Morrocan feast for dinner one night!

Liked: Its just soooo chilled out this place has THE most relaxed attitude to everything. Magic Man who runs the place is quite possibly the coolest person you will ever meet and will go out of the way to get you whatever you want whenever you want it, there were stories being told about this guy in marrakech before we left and we found every one of them true! The place is unique and has something about it you can't put in words, we booked one night and ended up staying the week, then met new friends and Magic Man hooked us up with a guy to drive us to Agadir for less than the bus. I will be returning soon! The location is awesome as well, bang in the middle of the medina and a short walk from the beach, magic man also loaned us his surf boards for the day for free. Oh and the bar is open 24 hours a day, this place is where the action is at in morocco.

Disliked: We just didn't want to leave!

Liked: The other travellers I meet there were a really cool bunch, but I have to say the guys that work there made it for me. They all ended up becoming really good friends! Chill the day away at Hostel Essaouira...... Highly recommended!!!!

Liked: The staff here are fantastic and the hostel has a really relaxed vibe. On our last day they locked up our bags for us and let us borrow the towels for a few extra hours of sunbaking at the beach. There is free internet and they let you borrow their surfboards for free - there is also a bar stocked with good priced drinks and snacks.

Disliked: Hostel itself is a bit run down and as all the rooms are centred around a main atrium with hammocks at the bottom it can be pretty noisy because any sounds from the atrium travel straight into the rooms. It's a great place to meet people but perhaps not the best if you're looking for a decent night's sleep.

Liked: majid (magic) -the 'administrator'- is a funny, good guy and abdulah is a great cook and a warm person.

Disliked: there was a mix-up with the beds in a 10-bunk dorm and a guy had to pay more than double what he had been paying before because he was gonna be moved in a 4-bunk dorm. he went to a cheaper hotel for the night and when he returned the day after they refused to let him in even though they had empty beds in the cheap room.

Liked: the staff are really friendly, the hammocks and terrace are a great place to hang out and meet people.

Disliked: very small rooms, loud music at times from the bar, wi-fi isn't very good in the rooms (but in the bar is fine)

Liked: Good place, nice bar downstairs, great rooftop with sofas and kitchen but should be there some music. Good breakfast, and very friendly staff

Liked: Lovely staff, great common area, nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Dorms had locks. Great location, easy to find. Cheap beers in the bar!

Disliked: Computers were usually not working but wifi was good.

Liked: Great joint, the boys there are a great help with all matters! Don't miss the tagine they put on, much better then the normal fare youll get. Had a great time and extended my stay by a few days, great place to unwind and get away from the pace of the other Moroccan cities.
