Brittany Ferguson-BrownThe property was a small, clean, cosy, nicely furnished flat in a fairly standard soviet-built block. Our room was a good size, the bed was comfortable. We were given a padlock and key for our room door, and a code and key to get in from the street. The flat is on the top floor with a heavy metal front door and felt very safe/secure. The location is great, right in the centre of UB, probably the best location of all the guesthouses in UB. 24hour shop around the corner, easy to get to all the main places. The building is on a small square with a small playground/park/basketball in the middle where local kids hang out and the old folk sit on benches, quite a nice 'local' feel, but theres virtually no outside lighting at night and it can have quite a different feel about it when you're coming home late at night, although your only just round the corner from a busy main road and I'm sure theres more real risk from pickpockets during the day than muggers at night. The shower was as good as you could expect from an old building, we gave a bag of clothes to be washed and it was waiting outside our door for us the next morning. There was a computer with internet in the hall (USD$1 for unlimited internet during our stay) and a phone which you can pay to use. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, very informal, definitely a guesthouse rather than a hostel. The woman who owns the flat doesn't seem to be around very much at all, occasionally a friend or family member might pop in and clean the floor or make a cup of tea and use the internet, but the majority of the time we had the flat to ourselves. There is a sign saying you can call her using the phone if you need anything though. I strongly reccomend getting in touch with Ziggy before you arrive as it is quite difficult to find, and the only sign is stuck to the door of the flat once you're inside the building and at the top of the stairs. Overall highly recommended and great value. |

Laura PopescuVery friendly and helpful staff, they organized a wonderful mountain trip which was even less expensive than a travel agency in town offered us, very cozy room, with a nice view over the park. |

Josef CoufalVery small family hostel in real center of Ulaanbaatar. I've stayed in clean and nice double room which satisfied me expectations. Dormitory is a little bit small for eight people but good stuff for that money. Owner Mrs. Eiggi is very nice, polite, friendly and ready to help you. Although, the hostel don't offer it's own tours as bigger ones do, but offers some packages from external travel agencies. Perfect choice if you want to stay in UB and have a rest in small budget . Very useful thing for backpackers is laundry service (1.5$ per kg). |

Customer reviewWe were met at the train and driven to the Steepe Hostel. We were shown places to see and things to do. We felt very safe there. Our train left late at night and we were driven back to the train station. We met wonderful people and you have a great staff there. We enjoy the services of the internet. Iggy really helped us and made our stay very enjoyable. |

Customer reviewgood location, right in the main road @ city centre. hostel located inside an old run-down Soviet style building, but have kitchen facilities, and clean bed. Owner very helpful to pick up our train tickets ordered with someone else. She also arrange for us to stay in a Ger (homestay) in Terelj for 4 days, it was great, the family was very nice, a pleasant stay. |
