Liked: The staff and family were really friendly and happy to provide free transportation to the train station even though its just round the corner. The room we stayed in was spacious and the beds were comfy. The kitchen was really handy and the hot/cold water machine saved us having to buy water. We felt really at home here. Great value for money.

Disliked: The shower room had nowhere to store your clothes and the street the hostel is on is quite dark at night so we didn't feel too safe when walking back at night. Apart from that everything was great.

Liked: Nice people and good tours.

Disliked: Idre is a bussines man. He tries to put maximum people in a van sharing different kinds of tours (7 days, 14 days, ...). At the end is a mess going to different cities to put people in local buses, waiting,... In the other hand the guides and the food are excelent.

Liked: Busy place with lots of travelers coming and going. Rooms and common areas clean and organized.

Disliked: The shower upstairs is a bit of a disaster. Didn't check out the ones downstairs but hear they are worse. For $5/night not the end of the world, though.

Liked: very good price, comfortable beds, clean toilets.

Disliked: shower broke and there's only one on the ground floor. Also tours were rather pricey.

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff, good place to meet other travellers.

Disliked: The location is a bit out of town in a bit low key area. The dorm is right next to the road, so you wakr up pretty early because of the noise from the traffic.

Liked: They have a great tour guide associated with them called oogii who is helpful and interesting and we had a wonderful time with him.

Disliked: the staff were rude and unhelful, cleanly the communal areas in the middle of breakfast and insisting you move so they can wipe a table you are still using, they wet the carpets every day and so you have soggy feet all the time. The showers are small and dirty and Idre the owner is rude, scary and quite dishonest, selling private tours and then trying to add other guests on to them. We unfortunately list our locker key which held our laptop and passports, our own fault but they have no masters and whilst they knew we were frantically searching they kept pestering us to fill out an evaluation form. The street it is on is scary and full of rubble, we would not stay here again.

Liked: Very comfortable and a safe haven from the busy loud city of Ulaan Baatar. Rooms were nice, clean and had comfortable beds. The common area was good with a lounge area with sofas and flat screen TV, dinning area and fully equiped kitchen. Laundry service was fantastic- we gave our laundry in to be washed one evening and it was washed and dryed outside our door by the next morning! Nice young Mongolian man called 'Chingi' worked here and often tryed to practise his English. Went on an 8 day horse trek/ tour through the hostel to Orkon Valley. It was great and would recommend it as it is the best way to see Mongolia. 4 days on a horse- too much, I would arrange to do less if I were to do it again! Also the more people on a tour the beter as the price comes down. Idre was also very flexible on tailoring the tour to want we wanted.

Disliked: Had to keep asking for the toilet paper to be refilled. The shower didn't look very nice, but there was constant hot water which was good. The workers also cooked in the communal kitchen and there was a constant smell of mutton.

Liked: Property really close to the train station. Clean rooms with comfy beds. Tours offered by Idre are amazing and are great value for money. Cannot find a fault. Have a chat with the man and he will steer you in the right direction: sand dunes, camel rides, hot springs, icy rivers, horse rides, traditional lamb Mongolian BBQ, family stays in gers and the list goes on - all positive!

Liked: You feel pretty much like at home. You share living room and kitchen with the ownwers. Everybody was really helpful and nice. I would recommend this hostel to everybody who likes to stay at cozy places with familiar atmosphere.

Disliked: Bathroom could be better.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and always there to help with anything! The tour we booked was amazing and our guide Oogii was possibly the best chef EVER! and full of information.

Disliked: The showers are not nice but they are not the worst I have seen.

Liked: I had to ask via mail many times, but the owner of the guest house, Idre never neglected and responded me quickly.Hot shower, clean facilities and various attractive tour programs are provided.I will definitely stay here if I visit Mongolia again.

Disliked: Internet was not ready to use when I got there. After I came back 7 days later, it was restored.

Liked: The Hostel has a lot of common space, where you can hang out and relax. For Idre's Tours you can get very good information by yourself since there are a good map and some folders available where everything is well described. Of course, you can get excellent information by Idre himself, but you don't need to hear other people talking about "buisness" all the time since this only takes place in Idres office.

Disliked: The only thing we didn't like so much were the showers and the toilets. The latter ones are sometimes not very clean and in general it's a bit narrow there... However for that price, these are only minor shortcomings.

Liked: Everything! What a fantastic place. The staff are friendly and helpful and most of them speak good English. They can help with all your needs, e.g. tours, laundry and Internet. Our room was clean and well-equipped. It was a very fun place to meet people and in a good location between the train station and downtown area. I can't recommend this place enough!

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: The staff was generally very nice, but the owner Idre was exceptionally rude. The rooms were pretty clean, but the shower upstairs, was filthy and barely worked.

Disliked: The owner, Idre, was very rude. I took a tour with them which was reasonably priced, but I was told all meals would be included. After 3 days in the desert we ran out of water, and were told we had to buy our own. We all bought our own water, but kept receipts to be reimbursed. When I returned to discuss the issue with Idre, he said that he supplied a bottle and half for each person (which even if the guide weren't lying about how much water she brought, was still half a bottle short). I told him that he could make things right by reimbursing the $5 for the water, or I would make sure to mention it in my review. He said "Fine, write what you want." I said ok and left the room, he followed me into the lounge area and started screaming that I was a "bad personality." It was all a bit over-the-top and drama intensive, considering all I expected was to be given what had been agreed upon initially. This unfortunately left a very sour taste in my mouth. But, the general staff was very nice, and our guide (Dinah/Diana) was a decent cook and fairly knowledgeable, though it was disappointing that she lied at the end to avoid getting in trouble. And, she had a tendency to say yes to what we asked for, then hours later we would ask if it was going to happen and she was like "Oh we passed it, or I forgot, or you really wanted to do that?" It was a bit annoying that she would agree, then do what she wanted. The best person there was the driver Dawa who worked hard changing tires and driving for hours, yet was unflaggingly joyful and pleasant the whole trip. The hostel was ok, but there was no AC or even a fan and it was so hot in the front bedroom that another girl and I left the room to try and sleep in the lounge area. The staff kept things pretty clean and was very nice. But, there is a cluster of hostels with a much better location near the government shopping center and seemed in better condition, one of them was called the Golden Gobi. And, they offered the same tours at the same or better prices. There were quite a few people who were unhappy with their tours from Idre's, so I recommend trying out some of the other hostels in the area I mentioned. Though, Idre's was def a step up from some of the other hostels that we saw. So, you could do better, but you could do worse.

Disliked: Perfect. However ulan bataar is small and do not need more than 1 or 2 days... trips have to be planned out of thecity inthis amazing country

Liked: Despite the problems with our room the staff were mostly helpful and friendly. The location is good for the train station, and free pick up available. Tours can be arranged and they are good value for money.

Disliked: Didnt like the fact we didnt get the private en suite room we had booked and paid for and was not offered any refund. The shared bathrooms and showers are not great and not enough for the size of the hostel, and they could be cleaner! No toilet roll provided either. Also, the road outside the hostel is a complete mess with the road dug up all around it, and noisy work men outside your windows all the time!
